FT: Besiktas 0 Arsenal 0. Aaron Ramsey's dismissal will give Arsene Wenger a selection headache, but a solid display from the Gunners against a determined Turkish side should stand them in good stead for the second-leg.
The home side are pushing for a late winner, but they simply cannot find a way through the resolute Gunners backline.
SAVE! Incredible save from Zengin. Oxlaide-Chamberlain looked to have broken the deadlock with a fine run and effort, but Zengin's fingers touched the ball onto the post and gathered the rebound.
Frei works the space well, but overhits the pass and the ball runs out for a goal-kick. Wasted opportunity for the home side.
Ramsey receives a second yellow card for a tug on Ozyakup. Very cynical and not waht the Gunners needed.
Cazorla fires a free-kick around the wall, straight at the 'keeper, who gathers at the second attempt after a nasty bobble.
Oxlaide-Chamberlain has an effort from distance, but it is quickly closed down and blocked. Looked goal bound.
Ramsey this time gets the ball down in the box, but he again tries one trick too many, and is once again tackled. Has to pull the trigger.
CHANCE! Giroud in the thick of the action, but he cannot get connection on the low cross from Sanchez.
Chris Green has a message fro the Arsenal boss: "The Gunners have clearly not addressed their defensive vulnerabilities at the interval as they still look unsteady when Besiktas attack. Sort it out, Wenger!"
James Dunker is assessing the options from the US: "Watching live commentary at work in unusually balmy San Diego, but not sure who Arsenal can pull from the bench to change the flow of the game. Campbell? Oxlade-Chamberlain? Rosicky? Unfortunately, Arsene tends to be very pragmatic and risk adverse, what is needed is some unadulterated passion."
Arsenal just cannot get hold of possession. They are not getting forward quick enough to support Giroud, who is looking more frustrated as the game wears on.
More possession for the home side, but can they make it pay? Arsenal not really threatening this half. Giving the ball away too often.
Besiktas playing some really good football, but they are almost being too intricate, and trying to walk the ball in.
CHANCE! So close from Sahan. Played in down the left, cuts back inside, but he curls the ball just past the post. Great start to the half.
Early chance for Arsenal, with Ramsey barging his way through, but he delays his effort for too long, and he is dispossessed.
A view from the stands from David Obika: "I am at the game. Giroud, unfortunately is not very good tonight. I think we should give Campbell a chance who is used to this opposition. Wenger after half time looks like he has aged."
Ayaz Mawji feels the same: "This shows a quality striker us needed, could be another season of missed opportunities for the Gunners."
Mitch Galvin is not happy with Arsenal's forwardline: "If Giroud and Sonogo are Arsenals strikers this season they will always struggle to score goals and will lose game because of it."

HT Besiktas 0 Arsenal 0. The home side have certainly not been overawed by the occasion, but chances at either end have gone begging in what has been an entertaining half. Could go either way.
CHANCE DOWN THE OTHER END! Giroud should do much better after being played in, but he cannot connect with the bouncing ball and the chance goes begging.
CHANCE! So close from bar. He is played in over the top, turns inside, evading the challenge of Koscielny, but fires just wide.
Alexis Sanchez plays the ball into Giroud's feet, but he cannot turn on the spot, and he is dispossessed at the vital moment.
A couple of long-range efforts coming in from Besiktas, but they are not going to beat Szczesny from there with such little power.
Jack Wilshere does well to collect the ball from Giroud, drops the shoulder, and curls a great effort at goal but Besiktas stopper Tolga Zengin is equal to it, even keeping hold of the strike.
Sanchez puts the ball into the box, but his cross is to nobody, with bodies just not getting forward for the Gunners.
More possession for the home side, who are spraying the ball around well, and look threatening when they come forward.
Sanchez again running down the right flank, but Sahan does well to force him wide, and gets the ball away from danger.
Veli Kavlak has a strike from outside the box, which is hit with plenty of venom, but Szczesny gets everything behind it and easily catches.
A faint shout for a penalty for the home side, but the referee waves away the half-hearted shouts. More vociferous from the stands.
Scrappy at the moment, with both teams trying to get their foot on the ball, but cannot do much with it on this pitch.
Corner for the home side. The former Arsenal youngster with it, but his low cross is easily cleared. Must do better from there.
Corner to Arsenal, who are certainly breaking much more quickly. Giroud at the centre of it, but couldn't get a pass away in time.
Pace of the game has slowed somewhat as a result of players getting frustrated with the pitch. May have to opt for the aerial route.
The pitch is causing all sorts of problems. very uneven, and hard for players to keep the ball under control, especially at speed.
More great work from Sanchez down the right. Beats several players to get to the byline, but his cross is cleared for a corner, which Giroud heads over.
CHANCE! Another opportunity for Arsenal, with Cazorla this time using his pace to make room for an effort from the angle, but his strike flashes across goal and goes wide.
CHANCE! Giroud gets the ball stuck under his feet after getting on the end of a Alexis Sanchez low cross, but whilst falling, the Frenchman can't quite get the shot away. Great work for Sanchez down the right.
SAVE! Tremendous volley from Demba Ba. pulling off the defender's shoulder, but Szczesny is equal to it, and palms the ball to safety.
Free-kick to Arsenal with Debuchy down, looking like he is in pain. Necip Uysal with the foul. Looked like a nasty one.
Rob in Canada is confident: "Besiktas with players like Demba Ba will put up a good fight at home. I still think the Gunners quality and depth of squad will shine through. Will go for 3-1, COYG!"
Great football again from the home side with Ba in the tick of the action. Neat interchange on the edge of the box is eventually stifled.
Szczesny called into action again, but gathers the loose ball easily. Great start from the home side here!
WHAT A START! And we are off, with an incredible effort from Demba Ba from the halfway line which comes back off the crossbar!
A familiar sight of Slaven Bilic on the sidelines. Can the former West Ham defender mastermind a famous win here?
This is the largest-capacity stadium in Turkey, and what an impressive sight. It is not full by any means.
Niall has also sent in his prediction: "Arsenal to get a simple 2-0 win, goals from Giroud and Ramsey."
The Ataturk Olympic Stadium, and certainly looks intimidating. Can the Gunners' stars cope with such hostility?
Arsenal overcame Turkish opposition in the play-offs last year when they thumped Fenerbahce 5-0 and they will be hoping for a similar outcome against Besiktas.
Sky Bet are offering plenty of enhanced prices before kick-off, including Demba Ba to Score and Besiktas to Win in 90 Mins (now 9/1) and Aaron Ramsey to score first (now 15/2). --> http://www.skybet.com/football/champions-league/event/16851654
Oğuzhan Özyakup will be looking to make an impression. He was a youngster at Arsenal, but never made an appearance before signing for Besiktas.
Anish Parek has tweeted his prediction: "3-0 win to Arsenal. Sanchez with the double. Ramsey with one. COYG!"
Not so much. Besiktas have lost just one of their 16 Champions League qualifying games, winning 10 and drawing five.
Arsenal have won all of their previous 12 Champions League qualifying games. Should be a guarantee then?

There is a familiar face in the Besiktas line-up in the shape of Demba Ba. The former Chelsea hitman would love to get one over on a former rival.
Besiktas XI: Tolga Zengin, Ismail Koybasi, Ramon Motta, Ersan Gulum, Pedro Franco, Olcay Sahan, Veli Kavlak, Necip Uysal, Oğuzhan Ozyakup, Mustafa Pektemek, Demba Ba.
Arsenal XI: Szczesny, Debuchy, Chambers, Koscielny, Monreal, Arteta, Wilshere, Ramsey, Alexis, Cazorla, Giroud.
