Blackburn went top of Sky Bet League One for the first time this season after a routine 2-0 win over struggling Bury at Ewood Park.
Second-half goals from Danny Graham and Adam Armstrong - who now has four in three since joining on loan from Newcastle - sealed the victory for Tony Mowbray's side, who climbed above Shrewsbury and Wigan, although they've played a game more than the Shrews and three more than Wigan.
Bury, meanwhile, who had enjoyed a bit of a resurgence of late under Ryan Lowe before Monday night, remain 23rd in the table and 10 points from safety.
Blackburn shaded the first half but chances of real substance were few and far between for either side.
That all changed soon after the break, however, as Graham and Bradley Dack combined well to find the opener. The former Swansea striker finding Dack on the edge of the area before charging into the box and heading home his pin-point cross.
Blackburn then sealed the win after 67 minutes thanks to a helping hand from Nathan Cameron. Marcus Antonsson's attempt from Darren Lenihan's cross was going harmlessly wide until the Bury man failed to get out of the way and nudged the ball back into the path of Armstrong, who had a simple task in picking up the ball and tucking it into an empty net.
Everything good about Blackburn went through Dack on Monday night, with him providing the key breakthrough moment with the assist for Graham's opener.
Tony Mowbray: "They made it difficult to get through their lines and it was a bit frustrating for us because we're generally more fluent than that. Credit to Bury because they're working hard and fighting for their lives.
"For us it was ultimately just about getting the result. It's three points in the bag and now we move onto the next game."
Ryan Lowe: "I think we dominated the first half and had some good chances, but we've got to put the ball into the net when we're on top. But I can't fault the lads, the second goal was a mistake when we could have got back into it, but they've given everything.
"We need to put that to bed now and concentrate on the next 14 games."
Both sides are back in Sky Bet League One action at 3pm on Saturday when Bury host Gillingham and Blackburn head to Walsall.
