Bolton start life post Gary Megson with an FA Cup third round tie at home to League Two Lincoln City.

Megson's gone but will Bolton improve as a consequence?

Bolton start life post Gary Megson with an FA Cup third round tie at home to League Two Lincoln City. A large portion of the Wanderers faithful will have raised their glasses to the departure of a manager never really accepted in the North West, but a cup shock on Saturday could see the hangover really kick in. Megson has since spoken of his disappointment and sadness over the decision but it is the players charged with the task of propelling the club forward in his absence. Bolton midfielder Gavin McCann is pushing for a place in the starting line-up for the Reebok Stadium clash. McCann came on for the last 15 minutes of the draw with Hull City in midweek after recovering from an ankle injury. That proved to be Megson's last game as manager, leaving assistant boss Chris Evans and head coach Steve Wigley in temporary charge. They could be tempted to freshen things up with a trip to Arsenal looming on Wednesday.

    Imps news

Lincoln's hopes of overcoming Premier League opposition have received a boost with three new signings set to be available. Left-back Joe Anderson has penned a permanent deal to keep him at Sincil Bank until the summer of 2011, while fellow Fulham youngsters Matthew Saunders and Michael Uwezu have signed month-long loan deals from Craven Cottage. On-loan Adam Watts, who is due to sign a permanent deal with the Imps early next week, is also available for the tie. The postponement of Monday's clash with Darlington should have afforded sufficient time for Stefan Oakes (groin), Joe Heath and Nathan Baker (illness) and Eric Lichaj (virus) to recover.
