Under-pressure Tranmere boss John Barnes could ring the changes when his side take on Bury in the JPT.

Shakers and Rovers square off in Johnstone's Paint Trophy

Under-pressure Tranmere boss John Barnes could ring the changes when his side take on Bury in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. Rovers were smashed 5-0 by Millwall at the weekend and the cup tie at Gigg Lane could prove to be a welcome break from their woeful start in the league. However, Tranmere currently lie third-bottom in League One and will have to be wary of a Shakers side who have won three of their last four. Marlon Broomes is suspended for Rovers after his sending off at the Den on Saturday, with Ash Taylor likely to come in at centre-half. Barnes' side received a bye in the first round of the competition, and they will have to do without Bas Savage if they are going to progress further, as he continues to recover from an Achilles injury. Bury defeated Walsall on penalties in the first round of the tournament after a 0-0 draw at the Banks's Stadium, but have a number of injury worries for Tuesday's tie. Strikers Andy Bishop (groin), Andy Morrell (ankle) and Danny Carlton (achilles) all miss out, while Paul Scott (thigh) and Damien Allen (groin) are also sidelined. Manager Alan Knill will fancy his chances of causing an upset, with Tranmere having lost eight of their opening 11 league games.
