Carlisle v Shrewsbury preview

Team news for Friday's League One clash between Carlisle and Shrewsbury at Brunton Park.

Carlisle goalkeeper Mark Gillespie returns to contention following suspension. Gillespie was sent off for two yellow card offences during the recent defeat at Leyton Orient and missed last week's home draw with Yeovil, so manager Greg Abbott must decide whether to recall him or stick with Adam Collin. Former Reading striker Mathieu Manset is hoping to make his first start for the club after stepping off the substitutes' bench midway through the second half last week. Manset helped spark the Cumbrians' late fightback and Abbott has another selection dilemma, with in-form teenager Mark Beck, Lee Miller, Rory Loy and Danny Cadamarteri all in contention. Winger Dave Symington is another player pushing for a recall, while winger Matty Robson will continue at left-back in the continued absence of Chris Chantler (ankle). New loan signings James Hurst and Akwasi Asante are available for Shrewsbury. West Brom right-back Hurst arrived at the Shropshire club for a second spell on Thursday having enjoyed close to two months at the Greenhous Meadow last term. And he was joined ahead of the closing of the loan window by lively Birmingham striker Asante, with both set to remain until the end of the campaign. Hurst has been brought in following the hamstring injury to Cameron Gayle, which could well rule him out for the remainder of the season, while fellow defender Rob Edwards (thigh) also continues to miss out. Long-term absentee Jermaine Grandison (hip) is pretty much at full fitness but would face a tall order being thrown straight in for the Easter programme. Fit-again midfielder Mark Wright (knee) is also likely to need reserve-team action before being considered for selection.
