Full-time: That's it. Manchester City win the Community Shield. Good effort from 10 men Chelsea but they were overpowered after the break.
Sense City have now realised they were being a little adventurous. Now they are content to keep the ball in the corner.
Pantilimon claims and can break quickly with Cech upfield. Ramires fouls Silva quite deliberately with Cech out of his goal but the referee is generous and doesn't give the Brazilian a second yellow.
The two men combine again. Milner gets to the byline and cuts it back for Aguero to tap in... but he misses!
Numbers in this City attack but Aguero ignores better options to spread the ball wide to Milner. Then the cross just eludes Toure and Silva with Luiz able to intercept.
Nice try by Torres to put Ramires through with a lay-off but it slices off his boot and out for a goal-kick.
Tevez running at defenders in the box but Lampard does well to put himself between the player and the ball, winning a free-kick.
Cole getting forward and then Bertrand puts the cross in but City clear. Decent pressure from the 10 men.
Zabaleta tries to find Milner but the hard-working wing-back can't keep that one in despite his best efforts.
Goal! That's one back for Chelsea. Horrible goalkeeping from Pantilimon as he spills a Sturridge shot and Ryan Bertrand is quick off the mark to score from the rebound.
Instead it's a one-two and Milner then pulls the ball back for Toure to strike but the effort is blocked.
Sturridge tries to outrun Clichy with his first touch but he's picked the wrong man there. The City man deals with it comfortably.
Close shave there. Luiz steps out to win the ball and does so. But then gives it away to Toure who tries to slide a pass to Milner. He would be through but the pass is just overhit.
All City now. When Hazard does try to break the forceful tackle comes in and they are on the attack again.
Good defending from Ramires but it's still a corner. City looking for a fourth. Plenty of time left too.
Goal! City are enjoying themselves now. Samir Nasri with his team's third goal of the half. Kolarov with the cross and Nasri hangs a foot out to knock the ball past a helpless Cech.
City in search of a third. Tevez does well again to fight off the repeated challenges of Luiz to win a corner.
Goal! Fantastic individual goal by Carlos Tevez. Cutting in from the left edge of the box he hammers a shot into the corner and Cech can only watch.
Possession football from City now. When Chelsea do try to break, Torres is fouled in the centre circle by Aguero tracking back.
Goal! And just as I write that Yaya Toure threads a pass through to Nasri. He finds Milner whose cross can only be cleared by Terry as far as Toure. He drills the ball past Cech for the equaliser.
Nothing comes of that though and you sense this is set up for Chelsea now. Backs-to-the-wall effort and try to hit City on the break.
Kolarov whips the ball in but it's a little high and Cech is confident enough to allow the ball to run through for a goal-kick.
Now Torres does well to wriggle away from De Jong and is blatantly bodychecked by Kompany when running on goal. Yellow card for the City skipper.
Great run by Torres. Knocks the ball past Clichy and it takes a desperate challenge from Kolarov to deny him. Corner to Chelsea.
Ramires did brilliantly for the goal. Not sure he meant to find Torres with the final pass but had created the opening by beating two men to get to that point.
It was a stupid challenge from Ivanovic, in my opinion. Totally unnecessary and he did catch Kolarov. Think Savic was certainly fortunate at the other end.
Abhisheck Varadarajan: "Great goal from Torres, I expect Chelsea to still win. I think that the red card was very harsh and that Savic earlier should clearly have been sent off for a double yellow card. I think Chelsea to win it 2-0 or it will go to penalites. City will also get a red card early in the 2nd half. Chelsea FTW!!!"
Half-time: That's the end of the first half. Jeers for the referee from the Chelsea fans, unhappy with Branislav Ivanovic's red card, but their also 1-0 up on the Premier League champions. Fernando Torres giving the Blues the lead, slightly against the run of play.
Now Lampard lunges in with an aggressive tackle. Gets the ball and howls of delight from the Chelsea fans but it's unnecessarily aggressive and referee Friend is again not happy with it. Booked.
Moments before that red card, Savic - who has already been booked - had appeared to block Torres when clean through but the referee gave a foul in City's favour. Chelsea will feel hard done by.
Off! Ivanovic lunges in with two feet. Ends up with the ball but the referee is unimpressed. The studs on that left foot have caught Kolarov's ankle. Red card.
Goal! Good run from Ramires and the ball squirms out to Torres on the right-side of the area. He pokes a left-footed effort over Pantilimon. Nice finish.
More good play from Hazard and Mata but Mikel is robbed and City break. Luiz does well to cut out the threat from Aguero.
Nice interchange between Cole, Hazard and Mata but when the ball comes to Ramires his lofted through-ball to Lampard is cut out by Pantilimon.
Savic and Zabaleta spreading wide when City have the ball. This time it doesn't work as Savic fires a long ball out of play down the line.
Nasri gets behind the defence and cuts the ball back for Tevez but his shot is blocked by Terry - as is the follow up by Milner.
Deep cross from Ivanovic and Milner concedes a corner. It's taken quickly to Mikel but he shoots from a long way out and it's well over.
Aguero dances past a challenge to feed Nasri on the right but the France international blasts his cross over everyone.
Shot from Chelsea. Ramires with a good run down the right and plays the ball in to Lampard who squeezes away a shot that is comfortably caught by Pantilimon.
De Jong dominating Mata at the moment. Wins a tackle and City push forward again. Cross comes in from Milner and finds Aguero but his glancing header is wide of the far post.
Luiz lumps the ball up to Torres but he is being marked by Kompany and that's easy for him to deal with. Torres looks unimpressed with that kind of service.
Ramires puts a cross in but there's nobody in the box. Cole tries to make up ground but can't get there.
Ouch. Hazard tries a backheel but makes a complete mess of it and falls over. Cue jokes about what £32million buys these days.
Good football from City until Nasri loses it but Ramires can only hold the ball for a moment before the league champs win it back. Tevez battles with Luiz and wins another corner.
The corner hits the first man but Chelsea fail to break. They need to get hold of the ball or it could be a long afternoon.
Chelsea starting to struggle to get hold of the ball now. City winning tackles in the middle and looking stronger. Then the ball breaks for Nasri but his toe-poke is saved by Cech for a corner.
Good work from De Jong and Tevez nearly allows Milner to run at Cole but the full-back is there first. City's wing-backs getting forward well.
Savic has been booked for that foul in the end. Kevin Friend was waiting for the ball to go out of play.
Tevez has the chance to run at the Chelsea defence. Ignores Aguero's dummy run and goes the other way. Down under Terry's challenge but nothing given.
Sloppy stuff as both teams lose the ball. Then Savic lunges in on Hazard. Looked a foul but the referee plays on. Dangerous defending that but Savic is clearly keen to be aggressive.
Lovely skill from Hazard to get away from a couple of City players. Beats Milner but then goes down under little pressure from Toure and nothing given. The City man isn't happy with that.
First shot on goal. Tevez tries to squeeze a free-kick past Cech at the near post but it is comfortably saved.
Nasri skips a few challenges but cannot break free. There's a chance for Torres to break but load cheers greet Kompany's challenge as he dispossesses the Spaniard. Busy start to the game.
Thanks for all your feedback. Sorry I couldn't publish them all - lots of excitement out there for this one. The players are in the tunnel are about to come out.
Holly: "As a huge City fan I would love to see City win this one. Missing Joe Hart who could be key but I think we'll pull it off! 3-1 City with Aguero (2) and Yaya, and Torres for Chelsea. Come on City!"
That's a 5-1 and a 4-3 in the predictions. You lot are clearly still in the Olympic spirit and expecting big things. Let's hope we're not disappointed.
Scott Campbell: "I think it will be 5-1 to Chelsea. Lampard hat-trick, Cole and Terry with one each and Zabaleta with one."
Max Schulte: "I reckon it will be a hard-fought contest. I think 2-1 Chelsea with Torres and Lampard. Yaya to score for City."
A few absentees for City that could prove key. Joe Hart has a slight back problem, while Joleon Lescott also misses out so it's a big day for goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon and centre-back Stefan Savic.
Stuart Cooke: "Savic is a liability at the back for City. Think Chelsea will nick it 1-0, Lampard winner."
Ian Ashman: "Greetings from an exiled City fan in Mallorca. My prediction is 2-0 to the blue side of Manchester."
It'll be interesting to see how City set up as there is some suggestion they will go three at the back. For Chelsea, there will be plenty of focus on Eden Hazard. The £32million signing tried to downplay expectations this week but - as his team-mate Fernando Torres will tell him - that's tricky when there is big money involved.
Shahezad Virani: "Chelsea to win 2-1 with Torres and Hazard to find the back of the net while Nasri to score for City."
It should still be fascinating though. And games between these two sides normally have an edge. The last five meetings between Chelsea and Manchester City, all in the Premier League, have seen four penalties scored and three players sent off.
In this fixture last season, Manchester United were hugely impressive in outplaying the eventual champions. So be wary of reading too much into this one. In fact, since the start of the Premier League, only seven of the 20 Charity/Community Shield winners have gone on to win the league title.
Manchester City: Pantilimon, Zabaleta, Kompany, Savic, Kolarov, Milner, De Jong, Yaya Toure, Nasri, Aguero, Tevez.
