Cheltenham v Scunthorpe preview

Image: Vincent: Fitness test

Cheltenham are set to remain unchanged, while the league leaders should have Izzy Iriekpen available.

Vincent will undergo late fitness test for hosts

Cheltenham boss Martin Allen could keep the same starting XI for this clash after his team staged a dramatic fightback against Colchester last time. The Robins flew out of the relegation zone after coming back from 3-1 down to secure an injury-time 4-3 victory against the Us. Veteran Barry Hayles came on as a substitute in that game and scored the winner but has now returned to Leicester after his loan deal ended. Fellow striker Ashley Vincent will undergo a late fitness test on a calf injury but is expected to feature. Goalkeeper Shane Higgs may make it onto the bench after calf problems but defender Shane Duff (Achilles) is definitely out. Damian Spencer (knee), John Finnigan (heel) and David Bird (fractured toe) all remain sidelined. Loanees Scott Murray, Drissa Diallo, Josh Payne, Lewis Montrose, Stuart Fleetwood, James Wesolowski and Lathaniel Rowe-Turner will all be competing to start, as will defender Darren Kenton who has been handed a three-month contract.

Iron news

Scunthorpe boss Nigel Adkins should have skipper Izzy Iriekpen available following confirmation the defender does not require surgery on a groin injury. The 26-year-old has been in fine form for the Iron having scored from set pieces in each of their last three matches but was limping heavily after the 3-0 home win against Crewe last weekend. However, Adkins confirmed after a scan that the injury is different to one he had earlier in the season and he is optimistic over Iriekpen's availability for the weekend. Goalkeeper Joe Murphy (Republic of Ireland) and Grant McCann (Northern Ireland) have returned from international duty unscathed, while teenage centre-back Krystian Pearce is also available after England U-19 duty. Ben May is pushing for a place in the starting line-up after impressing for the reserves during the week but Kenny Milne (knee) and Michael Lea (broken rib) are unlikely to be involved.
