Chester can secure their League Two status, while Stockport are already guaranteed a play-off place. Chester need just a point to ensure that they beat the drop, but will look back on a miserable season which has seen them fall out of the play-off picture and into a relegation battle after a run of two wins in 24 matches. The Hatters have suffered two defeats on the bounce, but are already assured of being involved in the end of season shake-up.

      Doubtful duo

Chester striker John Murphy and midfielder Kevin Ellison are both injury doubts ahead of the vital derby clash. Murphy has been receiving treatment for a head injury sustained in the 0-0 draw at Shrewsbury at the weekend, although he is the more likely of the pair to be passed fit to play. Ellison, meanwhile, limped out of the same game with a recurrence of a troublesome thigh problem and was replaced by Paul Rutherford, who is favourite to deputise again if needed. Richie Partridge suffered no ill-effects following his return to action against the Shrews after overcoming a hamstring problem and should keep his place in the side, with long-term absentee Nathan Lowndes (back) out.
      No concerns
Stockport boss Jim Gannon has no new injury or suspension concerns ahead of the rearranged trip to Deva Stadium. Gannon was forced to rearrange his defence before Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Barnet after Manchester City recalled on-loan youngster Shaleum Logan who had played in seven games since joining the Hatters in February. James Smith moved from centre-half to right-back with Jim McNulty moving from the left to partner Gareth Owen in the centre of defence. That meant a recall for Michael Rose, who returned at left-back while Ryan Lowe and Stephen Gleeson were recalled in place of Anthony Pilkington and Jason Taylor respectively.
