Small worry for Spireites, Clarke banned for Terriers

Wade Small is a fitness doubt for Chesterfield ahead of their Johnstone's Paint Trophy second round tie at home to Huddersfield. The pacy forward, who scored the Spireites' injury-time winner in the league game against Accrington on Saturday, is nursing a knock and may not be risked. New signing Mark Little is added to John Sheridan's squad after arriving on a month's loan from Wolves. However, David Perkins, who made his debut as a second-half substitute against the Shots after joining on loan from Colchester at the end of last week, is cup-tied having featured in his parent club's defeat to Gillingham in the first round of the competition. Chesterfield crushed Burton 5-1 in their first-round tie, with Small scoring twice.

Huddersfield news

Huddersfield will be without suspended defender Peter Clarke for the game. Clarke will sit out a one-game ban after receiving two yellow cards in the defeat at Colchester on Saturday, but manager Lee Clark has several other options. Andy Butler could step in alongside Nathan Clarke, Antony Kay could be switched from midfield to central defence, or youngsters Spencer Harris or Leigh Franks could feature. Boss Clark could also be tempted to hand run outs to several of his fringe players, with striker Lee Novak, young pair Aiden Chippendale and Lewis Nightingale, defender Robbie Williams and winger Lionel Ainsworth all hoping to feature.
