Victor Obinna came off the bench to fire Chievo to a 2-1 victory over his former club Inter Milan.

Chievo striker Victor Obinna came off the bench to fire the Verona outfit to a 2-1 victory over his former club Inter Milan on Sunday night. Obinna cancelled out Inter's Marco Andreolli's opener in the 73rd minute before adding his second seconds from time to spoil Nerazzurro captain Javier Zanetti's farewell game. Veteran Zanetti announced earlier this month he would retire from football at the end of the season after a 22-year playing career. The Argentinian midfielder was handed a start against Chievo as Inter, who had already assured themselves a fifth-place finish, looked to end a difficult campaign with a win. Chievo went into their final game of the campaign having taken a big weight off their shoulders after last weekend's 1-0 triumph at Cagliari sealed their top-flight status. The hosts were unlucky not to take a 10th minute lead when Alberto Paloschi's header from Simone Bentivoglio hit the crossbar, with Inter goalkeeper Juan Pablo Carrizo beaten. Chievo were again denied by the woodwork on the half-hour mark when Dejan Lazarevic's left-footed shot from 15 yards beat Carrizo, but hit the right post. Inter went ahead before half-time when Chievo failed to clear a dangerous ball in the area and Andreolli was there to fire past Lorenzo Squizzi and into the back of the net. Chievo coach Eugenio Corini brought on Obinna in place of Dario Dainelli in the 73rd minute and the Nigerian forward made an immediate impact. He got on to Lazarevic's pass and struck the ball from 14 yards towards the far post and out of Carrizo's reach. Obinna had the final say when he drilled a right-footed effort from long range past Carrizo to hand Chievo their 10th win of the campaign.
