Cologne and Stuttgart drew a blank in their Bundesliga contest on Wednesday.

The visitors will feel the harder done by after creating more chances - but the draw leaves them still inside the bottom three, with Cologne five points ahead of them.

Stuttgart did at least show an improvement on their 1-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend, but with Bayern Munich coming to town at the weekend, they will need to sharpen their attack if they are to cause the league leaders any problems.

The first half was more like a chess match with Stuttgart understandably focusing on keeping things tight and not wanting to take many risks.

Cologne did not show much going forward either as they did not want to get caught out on the counter-attack, leaving the spectators waiting to see which side - if any - would make the first move.

It was Stuttgart who obliged, albeit from a set-piece situation. Moritz Leitner's shot from more than 35 yards out nearly caught out Timo Horn - but he somehow managed to turn the ball onto the crossbar.

Daniel Schwaab was then denied by Horn as Stuttgart started to take more risks going forward.

Cologne retreated and decided to soak up the pressure, unable to add to their two shots on goal all night.

Stuttgart nearly broke into double figures in that statistic, but the one which mattered the most - the goals - remained on zero.

That was nothing particularly strange to Cologne fans, though, who have now seen five goalless draws at home this season.
