Cyprus and Albania's World Cup qualification campaigns ended with a whimper as they played out a listless 0-0 draw in Tuesday's Group E match in Nicosia.
With Cyprus propping up the section and Albania second-bottom, there was a flat atmosphere in the ground at kick-off and the first half did little to enliven proceedings.
Albania's Valdet Rama had the only shot of note in the first 45 minutes but Cyprus goalkeeper Antonis Georgallides was never in any trouble and made an easy save.
Cyprus earned a win over Iceland in their first home qualifier in September 2012 and took a point from eventual group winners Switzerland in March, so would have been far from overawed by Albania despite 89 places separating them in the world rankings.
They continued to restrict the visitors to hopeful efforts from distance in the second period and had a decent opening themselves in the 58th minute when Efstathios Aloneftis' drive from the edge of the box drew a good parry from Etrit Berisha.
Odise Roshi forced Georgallides into action with 20 minutes remaining and Rama saw two shots charged down by the home defence, but at no point did either side look in any danger of getting on the scoresheet.
