Steve Staunton suffered defeat in his first match in charge of Darlington as Dagenham & Redbridge cruised to three points against the struggling Quakers.
The home side continued their promotion push with a routine 2-0 victory, courtesy of two goals in as many first-half minutes from Danny Green and Josh Scott.
The Daggers forged ahead in the 17th minute when Russell Hoult's poor throw put his side under pressure and Green found the back of the net.
And Scott made it 2-0 just 60 seconds later when he powered towards goal and drilled in a shot which beat Hoult at his near post.
The Quakers keeper was kept busy throughout the afternoon with the visitors, who handed a debut to former Leeds striker Noel Whelan, rarely threatening.
Darlington remain rooted to the foot of the League Two table with just two points from their opening 12 games, while Dagenham are now up to second and just a point behind leaders Bournemouth.
