Both clubs look for opening wins

Dinamo Zagreb play host to Ajax as both clubs look to kick-start their UEFA Champions League campaigns. After two matches, Ajax have one point whilst Dinamo have nothing to show for their efforts thus far. If either side hold out hopes of progression, they know the upcoming double-header against each other is vital. Ajax's form does not lend itself to optimism, though, with just one win from seven games hardly a sign of a side ready to take the points in Croatia. Ajax coach Frank de Boer admits the games with Zagreb will be crucial, saying: "The two matches against Zagreb can be decisive for us. "Firstly, we need to secure third place, but ulimately we want more and we want a place in the next round of the Champions League. "These games are really crucial and we must get six points." The sides have met twice before in the Champions League, back in 1998 when the game in Amsterdam was drawn and Zagreb won the return fixture 1 0. The Blues' 10-game unbeaten start to the domestic season ended with defeat to Zadar at the weekend, but their form on their home turf is good, with Real Madrid the only side to win there all year. And Zagreb coach Krunoslav Jurcic is on confident mood, saying: "Our expectations are high. "In our calculations, we planned to get some points against Ajax and we will do everything we can to achieve that. We are playing at home in front of our fans, so we need an element of aggression in this match. I have been in charge for two matches against Ajax and we lost both, so I don't have fond memories, but Dinamo have beaten Ajax before."

    Team news

Leandro Cufre and Ivan Tomecak are both expected to be fit for Zagreb, whilst they are waiting on captain Milan Badelj and starlet Mateo Kovacic. One man who will not feature is right-back Sime Vrsaljko, who is suspended. In-form forward Fatos Beqiraj has recovered from flu, but definitely out are long-term absentees are Arijan Ademi, Mehmed Alispahic, Igor Biscan and Mathias Chago. Ajax have a worry over goalkeeper Kenneth Vermeer as he was forced off at the weekend with a stomach injury, so Jasper Cillessen could play. Kolbeinn Sigthorsson, Aras Ozbiliz and Nicolai Boilesen are all sidelined, whilst Mats Ritsis is not expected to make it either.
