Liverpool overcame some dogged resistance from Doncaster Rovers Belles to claim a 3-1 win in their Women’s Super League 1 clash at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Two stunning strikes from Caroline Weir before half-time gave the visitors the lead after Rhiannon Roberts had scored the opener for the Belles.
Doncaster refused to give up, but the game was effectively over as a contest when Natasha Harding added her own strike in the second half.
Bottom club Belles performed well in the opening 30 minutes and were rewarded for their endeavours when Roberts headed home on 20 minutes after the defender got on the end of Emily Simpkins' free-kick.
Liverpool struggled to gain a foothold in the contest but gradually began to assert their authority as Shanice van de Sanden increasingly found space down the right flank.
It was Weir who got her side back on level terms, however, as she curled an effort around Anna Moorhouse, with her second from range on the stroke of half-time a contender for goal of the season.
Liverpool remained in control after the break but took until the 72nd minute to wrap things up when Harding scored with an impressive strike of her own.
The victory takes Liverpool above Birmingham into fifth place in the table, while Doncaster remain rooted to the foot of the table without a single point to their name.
