Doncaster secured the final Sky Bet League One play-off spot with a hard-fought 2-0 win over Coventry.

Rovers took the lead when Mallik Wilks found Kieran Sadlier (30) at the back post with a delightful cross, which the former Peterborough man headed expertly into the net.

Doncaster doubled their lead and put sixth place beyond doubt when John Marquis capitalised on some chaotic defending to head into an empty net after some pinball football in the box.

The result means Doncaster can look forward to a two-legged play-off semi-final against Charlton, who secured third place with a 4-0 win over Rochdale.

Nerves appeared to have overcome Rovers in the early stages as they struggled to find any rhythm while Coventry showed no signs of easing off, with Brandon Mason going close early on.

But with news filtering through that Peterborough had edged ahead at home to Burton, Doncaster knew they needed a goal.

Their lifeline eventually arrived on the half-hour mark when Sadlier rose to head in a superb cross from Mallik Wilks for his third goal for the club following a January move from Cork City.
