Celta Vigo earned a narrow but deserved 1-0 win at Eibar as Nolito scored from the penalty spot late on in the first half.
Although they could only score the one goal, this was another impressive display from Eduardo Berizzo's side, who recorded a second consecutive league win to move up to ninth in the Primera Division and on to 42 points.
Eibar, meanwhile, remain on 31 points, just three above the relegation zone.
The Galicians made a nervy start to the game and could have fallen behind after just six minutes when they gave the ball away and Saul Berjon burst towards goal, but Celta defender Andreu Fontas did just enough to put off the midfielder, who shot wide of Sergio Alvarez's goal.
Michael Krohn-Dehli tested Xabi Irureta at the other end and then the hosts thought they had been awarded a penalty as Joaquin Larrivey went down in the area. Referee Carlos Velasco Carballo quickly changed his mind after consulting with his linesman, and instead showed the Argentinian a yellow card for diving.
Celta continued to dominate. Krohn-Dehli and Fabian Orellana both shot over the bar and then Hugo Mallo put the ball in the net but the effort was ruled out for an earlier handball by Nolito.
But Celta broke the deadlock not long after, when Didac Vila brought down Santi Mina, and Nolito sent Irureta the wrong way to score his ninth goal of the season.
Nolito very nearly scored a sensational second on the stroke of half-time, letting fly from over 40 yards after spotting Irureta off his line, but his shot landed a couple of feet over the bar.
The Galicians continued to call the shots in the second half, with Mallo, Nolito and Krohn-Dehli all squandering chances to put the game out of Eibar's sight.
The Basques were not entirely passive, however.
Substitute Manu del Moral forced Sergio Alvarez into a fine save and late on Vila came close to compensating for conceding the decisive penalty, but his shot from outside the area smashed against the crossbar.
