Scotland take on Sweden aiming to keep up Craig Levein's impressive start to international management.
The recently appointed boss enjoyed a morale-boosting victory against the Czech Republic in March and the former Dundee United manager will be keen to maintain an unbeaten run heading into the Euro 2012 qualifiers.
Scotland's road to the Poland and Ukraine finals has seen them pitted against world champions Spain, as well as the Czech Republic, Lithuania and Liechtenstein in Group I.
And Scotland will complete their preparations for qualifying with a tough trip to the Rasunda National Stadium to take on a Swedish side who boast a formidable record on home soil.
Erik Hamren's team have won their last four games in their homeland, scoring four goals each time so the Scots can expect a severe test in Stockholm.
Levein heads into the clash with six call-offs, having already lost first-choice goalkeeper Craig Gordon and defender Gary Caldwell to injury.
Lee McCulloch, Alan Hutton, Andy Webster, Graham Dorrans and David Marshall all pulled out, while Scott Brown travelled with the party despite an injury that will mean he will only sit on the bench.
Experimental eleven
And the Scottish coach has picked a slightly more experimental side than he would probably have preferred, ahead of next month's Euro 2012 qualifying matches against Lithuania and Liechtenstein.
As expected, Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor was named in the starting line-up in place of the injured Craig Gordon and will make his first appearance since his involvement in the 'Boozegate' affair, which led to an initial ban from the national team 17 months ago.
A largely inexperienced defence was named, with Kirk Broadfoot and Lee Wallace at full-back and Garry Kenneth and Christophe Berra given the opportunity to stake a claim in the centre due to the absence of Andy Webster and Gary Caldwell.
Barry Robson, Darren Fletcher, Kevin Thomson, Charlie Adam and James McFadden will form a five-man midfield, with Adam rewarded for his efforts at Blackpool last season with his first start since October 2009.
With Kenny Miller struggling with shin splints, Steven Fletcher was given the nod in the lone striker role ahead of Burnley front man Chris Iwelumo.
In contrast, Hamren has a strong squad to choose from after being boosted by the return of star man Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has come out of international retirement to aid their chances of qualifying for the European Championship.
Scotland have lost four away matches in a row heading into Wednesday's friendly, failing to score a goal in any of these games and the last time the two nations met in 2004, Sweden prevailed 4-1.
Scotland team to play Sweden:McGregor, Broadfoot, Kenneth, Berra, Wallace, Robson, Fletcher, Thomson, Adam, McFadden, Fletcher.
