Van Persie will be keen to put a frustrating domestic campaign behind him and shine at this summer's finals.
The forward, who began his career at Excelsior before moving to Feyenoord, was snapped up by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger in 2004.
Initially, there were question marks over the Dutchman's temperament, but attentions soon turned towards his undoubted raw ability.
After flashes of talented technicality during his first season with Arsenal, Van Persie secured his first full international cap against Romania in June 2004.
It did not take Van Persie long to earn a place in Gunners fans hearts either after striking a number of spectacular goals for the club, alas his time in North London has been hampered by several long-term injuries.
The most recent of which - a knee injury sustained whilst representing Holland - severely disrupted his 2007/08 term; however he still managed seven Premier League goals in 15 appearances - demonstrating his knack for hitting the back of the net.
This summer, though, the 24-year-old forward will be aiming to come through the tournament unscathed with Marco van Basten looking to fully utilise the cultured forward, who struck four goals during qualifying, as he deploys him as part of a forward three.
