The free-kick goes behind and the final whistle blows. Superb result for City, with the only blot on the evening for them the fact they've picked up six bookings for very little from a fussy referee. But the main thing is that in a difficult tie they've got one foot in the last 16, and a week off before the second leg.
Six bookings for City. Bonkers really. Richards the latest man to have his name taken for a foul on Rodriguez.
City closing this game out quite cosily now. Porto can't get the ball. We're almost into added time.
Plenty of home fans heading for the exits now. They're not used to seeing their team beaten here. Superb result for City.
The free-kick is worked for Hulk to shoot from range, but it's blocked and City break. Kolarov ponders, though, when he has options left and right. He eventually loses the ball and then fouls Mangala.
This would be an excellent result for City in what always looked a dangerous tie. Job not done yet, though: Porto have a free-kick on the right.
GOAL - AGUERO! Very much advantage City now as Toure is played through on goal by Nasri and unselfishly squares the ball to give the City substitute the easiest of finishes.
Pereira unhappy with being on the receiving end of a firm-but-fair tackle from Richards, and leaves his foot in there for a bit of afters. Not really on. On replay, Richards' challenge is actually even better than it looked at full speed. Perfectly timed.
Better spell of possession for Porto, but it's all in front of City's back four. The visitors look pretty comfortable now.
Loose pass from Moutinho. Just a hint of desperation as he drills the ball straight out of play for a throw-in.
Rodriguez's throughball is intercepted by Kompany, who coolly and skilfully brings the ball out for City.
Kleber playing through the middle. Hulk moves to the right to fill Varela's role. Aguero about to come on for City, it seems.
Been a bit card-happy this ref, but Nasri can have few complaints after cynically halting a potential Porto counter-attack with a trip on Hulk.
Lovely pass from Toure for the charging Richards, but he'd just failed to hold his run long enough and is marginally offside. Good call from the linesman.
Hulk swings the ball into the danger area, and Hart is out smartly to gather. Whistle's gone anyway for a City free-kick.
Slightly clumsy challenge from De Jong, but Hulk makes a real meal of it. Free-kick for Porto 30 yards from goal, the referee keeps his cards in his pocket, which is just as well: De Jong already in the book.
Trust you all filled in your own jokes there. Balotelli flagged offside again after some neat passing interplay orchestrated by Silva.
Hulk wants a free-kick after being muscled off the ball by Lescott. He won't get it. He's not happy. In fact he's angry...
City seem to have weathered the initial Porto storm after the equaliser. Starting to get a bit of possession going again.
The corner is cleared to Rodriguez, who is bundled over by Barry. Rodriguez makes the most of it, and Barry becomes the third (and unluckiest) City player booked in quick succession.
Hulk beats the wall this time, but not Hart, who smuggles a swerving ball behind slightly awkwardly for a corner.
De Jong charges down the free-kick ludicrously early and earns himself a booking. Hulk drilled the free-kick into a different part of the wall but now gets another chance.
Kompany lunges on Hulk with first his right leg and then the left. Ref doesn't like it. Porto free-kick 30 yards from goal, yellow card for Kompany.
OWN GOAL - PEREIRA! The same two players involved again as Toure's long ball bounces over Helton off Pereira's left shoulder as Balotelli makes his presence felt. Precious away goal for City.
Pereira has his name taken by the ref after he catches Balotelli with a flailing arm. No intent there, perhaps a bit unlucky to go into the book.
A promising situation for Porto comes to nothing as Hulk overhits a straightforward pass to Rodriguez, who can't keep the ball in play on the left.
Break from Porto, but Fernando's attempt to slide the ball through for Hulk is easily read by Clichy who makes the interception.
Another fast break from City ends with Richards beating the left-back. This time he does manage to get his cross in but the ball hammers off the near post to safety. Good start to the second half from City.
Nasri plays in Richards down the right for City, but the right-back takes an extra touch when he might've been better off whipping in an early cross. Ends up running out of pitch; goal-kick.
That's the last major action of the half. Porto were good value for the lead given to them by Varela on 27 minutes, but slowly and surely City have worked their way into the game and have worked Helton on a few occasions.
Another chance for Porto as space opens up for Gonzalez to have a shot on goal before Kompany gets across to block.
City make a complete mess of the free-kick, giving the ball away to Porto who break quickly. Moutinho sprays the ball out to Rodriguez on the left. He plays in Hulk, who cuts inside and thrashes a shot over the bar with his weaker right foot. Sloppy from City.
Porto knocking the ball around in midfield, seemingly content to take this 1-0 lead into the half-time break.
The free-kick is whipped in to the near post where Helton is brave and strong in punching clear. Balotelli caught offside as the ball is helped back in.
City starting to find some decent positions late in the half here. Silva set clear down the right, and his cross is blocked behind by Pereira. The linesman signals Pereira used his hand, so City have a free-kick rather than a corner.
Lovely cross from Clichy on the right evades Balotelli and Helton before being hooked clear by Pereira.
Barry's cross from the left is blocked by Maicon and then takes a final touch off Barry before going out of play. Goal-kick.
Straight ball into the penalty box from the free-kick. Balotelli tries and fails to make something of it.
The corner comes out to Gonzalez, who hammers a shot that is blocked on the six-yard line. De Jong acrobatically completes the clearance.
Flashpoint here on halfway as Moutinho dives in on Nasri, who leaves his foot in and catches the Porto man. Several other players get involved in some pushing and shoving before the game resumes with a City free-kick.
Clichy plays a pass through for the anticipated run of Silva, but he'd stopped and was looking for a square ball.
Silva and Clichy look to engineer something down the left-hand side, but the City left-back is flagged offside.
What a chance for City! Porto switch off and Balotelli is sent clear on goal by Nasri. Balotelli takes on an early first-time strike and Helton beats the ball away to safety. Could have maybe took a touch there and got right in on the keeper rather than taking on the shot from 18 yards.
Fine work from Hulk in the build-up to that goal. Apart from a couple of dodgy moments after Danilo's injury, Porto have made the running here and deserve their lead.
GOAL - VARELA! Porto take the lead, and you have to say they're value for it. Hulk breaks down the left and fires over a good low cross. Varela gets across Clichy and pokes home from close range.
Hulk runs at Kompany and throws himself down to the ground looking for a penalty. Referee unimpressed.
Pereira enjoying himself marauding down the left for Porto. He swings in another cross that Lescott heads clear.
Couple of scary moments for Porto when they were down to 10 men, but they're back to a full compliment now as Mangala replaces the unfortunate Danilo.
Another chance for City as Nasri is sent galloping clear and shoots hard towards Helton's near post. Again he turns the ball behind smartly.
Not great defending from Porto, allowing Balotelli to get on the end of the free-kick and divert the ball goalwards. Helton can't gather cleanly, and the ball is cleared only as far as Richards who hammers a shot at the near post that is well turned behind by the keeper.
Double trouble for Danilo here, who lunges in on Toure and gets his knee stuck in the turf. He's shown a yellow card as he's stretchered from the field. Real setback for Porto as their new signing departs the scene in agony. Of more immediate concern for Porto is this corner they need to defend with 10 men.
Another promising Porto move breaks down as Rodriguez hits a heavy pass to Hulk who can't bring the ball under control.
City fail to close Moutinho down 30 yards from goal, and the midfielder decides to go for goal. He shifts the ball nicely on to his left foot, but drags his effort a couple of yards wide of Hart's goal. Porto on top.
Long ball forward from Kompany aimed at Balotelli, who is once again flagged offside. This time, replays confirm, incorrectly.
Close! Rodriguez's delivery from the left is well met by the onrushing Rolando, whose goalbound header is diverted over the bar by Clichy.
Lovely raking crossfield pass from Maicon sets Pereira away down the left, and his cross is diverted behind by Richards for a corner.
Good spell this for Porto, who appear to have settled the better after that bitty opening seven or eight minutes. Rodriguez jinks his way into a crossing position on the left-hand side, but his low ball in is hacked clear.
Nice one-two between Pereira and Moutinho on the left for Porto, but the former's cross lacks venom and is confidently played away from danger by City. Porto are pressing the visitors high up the field, though, and regain possession before a loose pass sees the ball go out for a City throw.
Varela's cross from the right is too deep for Hulk and City clear. Porto back in possession on halfway.
Balotelli flagged offside as Toure dallies before playing the pass. Balotelli unhappy with his team-mate's tardiness there.
Moutinho almost threads a pass through for Varela, but Kompany is alive to the danger and makes the interception.
Silva dinks the ball over the top for the run of Balotelli, but he just didn't manage to hold his run and is rightly flagged offside. It's bitty in the early stages, to be fair.
First hint of space for City on the break as Toure gallops down the right, but his cross is blocked.
Hulk throws himself to the ground looking optimistically for a free-kick off Richards. Nothing doing, City goal-kick.
Toure tries to find a yard as blue-and-white shirts swamp him in midfield. He doesn't manage to wriggle free, but does win a free-kick.

Man City: Hart, Richards, Kompany, Lescott, Clichy, Barry, De Jong, Nasri, Toure Yaya, Silva, Balotelli. Subs: Pantilimon, Zabaleta, Pizarro, Dzeko, Kolarov, Savic, Aguero
Welcome to our live coverage of tonight's Europa League round of 32 clash between Porto and Manchester City. Should be good this, with two sides who would have had ideas on still being in Champions League action at this stage of the season. Porto, though, now find themselves with the chance to defend the trophy they won last season.
