    Gillingham v Aldershot preview

    Image: Allen: Back in contention

Team news for Saturday afternoon's League Two clash between Gillingham and Aldershot at Priestfield.

Charlie Allen returns to the frame for League Two leaders Gillingham. The midfielder missed last Saturday's goalless draw at Oxford due to a one-match suspension for his red card in the victory at Northampton. Danny Jackman, however, remains absent as he serves the third and final match of his ban for his dismissal against Rochdale. Charlie Lee (leg) remains another week away from his comeback and will hope to be in contention for next Saturday's visit of Burton. With the Gills not in midweek Johnstone's Paint Trophy action, manager Martin Allen watched the likes of Lewis Montrose, Ben Strevens, Bradley Dack, Callum Davies and Tommy Forecast get vital match action in a friendly at non-League Tonbridge Angels. Goalkeeper Ross Flitney also played the final 20 minutes on his return from a knee injury but needs much more game time before being able to challenge for the number one jersey. Loan signing Danny Rose comes in for his debut but Aldershot are battling a lengthy injury list. Midfielder Rose was signed on a three-month deal from Fleetwood on Wednesday and has been brought in to try and halt a sorry run of five successive defeats for the Shots, who find themselves second-from-bottom of League Two. A tough trip to high-flying Gillingham is not what under pressure manager Dean Holdsworth would have wanted with so many of his players facing a race against time to be fit. Midfielders Alex Rodman (shoulder) and Josh Payne (ankle) as well as striker Michael Rankine (illness) all missed Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat at Plymouth and are being monitored. Myles Anderson and Kieron Cadogan were handed rare starts but were both forced off due to injury and will also be assessed.
