Gillingham v Barnet preview

Image: Lee: Suspended for Gills

Team news ahead of Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy second-round tie between Gillingham and Barnet at Priestfield (kick-off 7pm).

Charlie Lee is suspended for Gillingham. The midfielder was shown his fifth yellow card of the season towards the end of Saturday's abject 3-1 defeat at AFC Wimbledon, in which he netted the Gills' second-half consolation, and will now serve an automatic one-match ban. Defender Matt Fish sustained a black eye during the loss at Kingsmeadow and will be assessed. New arrivals Jo Kuffour and Joe Carter are both eligible for the tie and will be pushing to start after manager Andy Hessenthaler, who must be contemplating changes, likened Saturday's performance to watching a "circus". Defenders Barry Fuller (knee) and Joe Martin (calf), midfielders Danny Spiller (ankle) and Jack Payne (knee) as well as striker Adam Birchall (knee) all continue to miss out. Ricky Holmes will miss out for Barnet due to injury. The striker scored the Bees' goal in Saturday's 2-1 defeat by Northampton but failed to emerge for the second half after suffering concussion and faces two weeks on the sidelines. Winger Mark Marshall hobbled off against the Cobblers but is expected to be fit. Full-back Danny Senda is still out with a hamstring injury but he could be available for Saturday's npower League Two clash with Shrewsbury. Boss Lawrie Sanchez has confirmed defender Darren Dennehy will play after he sat out at the weekend. Dennehy is still being eased back into action after he was sidelined for the best part of a year with a foot injury.
