Burton Albion dumped out in second round

Curtis Weston's second-half strike booked Gillingham's FA Cup third round spot as Burton Albion were beaten 1-0. The Gills' mean defence helped to make it four home wins and four clean sheets on the spin and Weston's seventh of the season settled the tie. Gillingham started brightest and Burton keeper Shane Redmond was forced to make a great double save from Simeon Jackson and Stuart Lewis after threea minutes. Burton's clearest sight of goal came on the half hour but Guy Branston headed wide when well placed. The Brewers should have taken the lead on 58 minutes but with Steve Kabba free alongside him Russell Penn chose to shoot and fired over. Febian Brandy was the architect as the Gills took the lead after 69 minutes, freeing Weston down the left and the former Millwall midfielder gave Redmond no chance.
