Gillingham v Huddersfield preview

Gillingham will hope to pile further misery on Huddersfield as they welcome the Terriers to the Preistfield Stadium.

Mystery surrounds Gills' unnamed injury doubt up front

Gillingham will hope to pile further misery on Huddersfield as they welcome the Terriers to the Preistfield Stadium. Huddersfield's promotion hopes took a big knock in midweek as they were trounced 5-0 by Southampton, while the Gills go into the meeting on the back of a 2-0 defeat to Carlisle. Gillingham have a doubt over an unnamed striker ahead of the game. Manager Mark Stimson has revealed that the forward picked up a calf problem at Carlisle last time out and is rated 50/50 to feature this weekend. Chris Dickson, Simeon Jackson and Rene Howe all started up front against the Cumbrians but Stimson is keeping the identity of the injured star close to his chest. Skipper Barry Fuller saw a specialist last Friday and it is expected to be four to six weeks before he can put a light cast on his broken arm so Danny Jackman is again likely to take the captain's armband. Fuller will be assessed after four weeks and, depending on his recovery, he may well decide to play with the cast on. Simon King has been doing some light jogging but will be looking to step up his rehabilitation to hard running providing that he gets the all-clear from a specialist.

Huddersfield news

Huddersfield manager Lee Clark is hoping to have defender Lee Peltier back in his squad for the clash at Preistfield. Peltier missed the 5-0 defeat at Southampton in midweek after sustaining an ankle injury in last weekend's 2-2 draw with Leeds. Tom Clarke stepped in for Peltier on Tuesday night, so Clark will have to decide whether to make further changes at Priestfield. Clark could be tempted to switch things around in other areas after seeing his side crash to their heaviest defeat of the season. Krystian Pearce, who replaced Dean Heffernan at Southampton, Nathan Eccleston and Theo Robinson are all pushing for recalls as the Terriers bid to get their play-off challenge back on track.
