Rochdale remain in the Sky Bet League One relegation zone despite extending their unbeaten run to four games with a 1-1 draw away to Gillingham.
Leading scorer Ian Henderson put the visitors ahead after 37 minutes with his sixth goal in five games against the Gills, slotting past Tomas Holy from Joe Bunney's well-worked free-kick.
Midfielder Mark Byrne met Tom Eaves' cross to powerfully head past Josh Lillis two minutes into first-half stoppage time to earn Steve Lovell's side a point.
Byrne had earlier fired against the crossbar from six yards out after dribbling his way through the Dale defence.
The Gills were also left to rue missed chances from loanee Graham Burke, who twice fired over the bar, both times following good play by Brandon Hanlan.
Rochdale, who remain unbeaten under caretaker manager Brian Barry-Murphy, were denied a second-half winner by two good Holy saves within a minute.
The Czech goalkeeper produced a smart stop to keep out Ollie Rathbone's low shot before making a fingertip save to deny Matt Done.
