Jong steals the show during friendly date in Austria

North Korea twice came from behind to claim an impressive 2-2 draw with Greece on Tuesday. Local hero Jong Tae-Se, dubbed the 'People's Wayne Rooney' by the Asian media, bagged a brace to ensure the tie finished all square. It took just two minutes for the Greeks to make the breakthrough in Austria, with Kostas Katsouranis crashing home from close range after defender Sotiris Kyrgiakos diverted a Giorgos Karagounis free-kick across goal. But the Koreans, who adopted a direct approach and were full of running, dominated the remainder of the first half and were full value for their 23rd minute equaliser. They had rattled the crossbar twice through skipper Hong Yong-Jo before a superb long range effort from Jong hauled them level.

Threat

Greece were now providing an ever-decreasing threat, with set-pieces representing their only chance of forcing a second. In the end they were able to do just that, with Angelos Charisteas' volley from another Karagounis free-kick edging them back in front four minutes into the second half. It did not take long, though, for North Korea to restore parity once again, with Jong able to hook a long ball out of the air, skip past Nikos Spiropoulos and drill powerfully past Alexandros Tzorvas on 52 minutes. Greece kick-off their World Cup campaign against South Korea on 12th June, but will be looking for a marked improvement in their next warm-up match against Paraguay before they turn their attention to matters in South Africa. North Korea have been drawn in Group G, where they face the unenviable task of trying to contain Brazil, Ivory Coast and Portugal.
