Guingamp made it back-to-back wins in Ligue 1 after seeing off struggling Reims 2-0 on Saturday.

Claudio Beauvue's penalty after the hour mark would go a long way to easing Guingamp's nerves, while Christophe Mandanne added a second in stoppage time to hand Reims their sixth defeat in seven.

It was also Guingamp's second win in six league games, while Reims' misery of being in relegation danger was compounded by injury to goalkeeper Kossi Agassa, who was substituted at half-time.

The change may well have contributed a good deal towards Reims' defeat, as Agassa had done well to keep Guingamp at bay in the first half.

On 14 minutes, Agassa had to be alert to make a finger-tip save after a deflection off his defender Anthony Weber threatened an own goal.

Weber then made amends somewhat by helping to set up Prince Oniangue from 25 yards out and a strong volley needed a good save from Guingamp keeper Jonas Lossl.

The home side were left feeling aggrieved in the minutes leading up to half-time when a Mustapha Diallo's header into goal was ruled out for offside.

With Agassa taken off at half-time, Placide was called quickly into action at the restart as Guingamp's Younousse Sankhare volleyed straight at him. And just before the hour, Placide had to again make a save to keep out Beauvue.

But the goalkeeper's luck ran out when he brought down Mandanne in the area to concede the penalty, before ex-Bastia striker Beauvue sent him the wrong way from the spot.

Reims were plugging away to little avail, though David N'Gog had a decent chance when he fired a header on target but saw it blocked by Lossl.

Guingamp were able to put the game to bed thanks to a lightning quick counter-attack deep into stoppage time, with Mandanne receiving the cross six yards out and coolly chipping the ball over Placide.
