Hartlepool v Chesterfield preview

Image: Christian Burgess: A major injury doubt

Team news for Saturday's League Two clash between Hartlepool and Chesterfield at Victoria Park.

Hartlepool's on-loan defender Christian Burgess is a major injury doubt for the home game against Chesterfield. The Middlesbrough centre-half sustained an ankle injury in last week's defeat at Portsmouth and has been receiving treatment this week at his parent club. If he fails to make it another loanee, Sunderland's Scott Harrison, could make his full debut. Striker Marlon Harewood (ankle) remains doubtful after missing for the last two games, but midfielder Andy Monkhouse (hamstring), sidelined for the last four, could return to contention. Pools have slipped to within six points of the relegation zone following four straight defeats and have won only one of their last seven. Chesterfield will be without the suspended Jimmy Ryan at Hartlepool. Ryan received his 10th yellow card of the season during the disappointing 1-1 home draw with Newport last weekend and begins a two-match ban. With Ollie Banks (foot) out for the remainder of the season and Dan Gardner only recently back from injury, Spireites boss Paul Cook this week recalled Sam Togwell from his loan spell at Wycombe to bolster his midfield options. On-loan Derby striker Mason Bennett has returned to his parent club while attacking midfielder Daniel Kearns will be involved for the final time before his loan deal from Peterborough expires.
