McCartney could make Leeds bow; Wright in Blades squad

Sheffield United manager Gary Speed faces an emotional return to former club Leeds on Saturday afternoon. Speed took control of the Blades following the departure of Kevin Blackwell after a stuttering start to the season. But his side travel to Leeds in good spirits following a 1-0 victory over Portsmouth last weekend, and there will be a fiery atmosphere for this Yorkshire derby at Elland Road. Leeds' latest loan signing George McCartney could go straight into the starting line-up for the clash. The 29-year-old defender, who will stay for an initial month at Elland Road, could replace Fede Bessone at left-back. Bessone missed last week's draw at Doncaster and teenager Aidy White stepped in, so manager Simon Grayson is left with a selection headache ahead of the third straight local derby. He must also decide whether to recall skipper Richard Naylor, who made way for Alex Bruce at the Keepmoat Stadium, while winger Robert Snodgrass is hoping to make his first start of the season after coming off the bench in the second half at Doncaster. Davide Somma is likely to retain his place up front after an impressive first full league appearance last week, but Grayson has plenty of options with Ross McCormack, Luciano Becchio, Sanchez Watt and Lloyd Sam all vying for starts.

Blades news

Richard Wright is expected to go straight into Sheffield United's squad for the trip to West Yorkshire. The former England international signed a four-month contract at Bramall Lane this week as back-up for Steve Simonsen. Skipper Chris Morgan will be sidelined for up to three weeks with a hamstring problem that was revealed following a scan this week, so Nyron Nosworthy should continue in central defence. Summer signing Daniel Bogdanovic was on target from the penalty spot for the reserves in midweek and is hoping to make his first start since his switch from Barnsley. Manager Gary Speed, who has no other new injury or suspension problems, must decide whether to stick with Nick Montgomery in midfield or recall Stephen Quinn while winger Mark Yeates is also in contention after stepping off the bench last week.
