Pearson and Di Matteo set for first games in charge

Nigel Pearson and Roberto Di Matteo take charge of their first games in the League One opener at The Walkers Stadium. Pearson, who succeeded Ian Holloway as Foxes boss earlier in the summer, will have Paul Dickov in his squad after he joined on a free transfer this week. The diminutive striker, who has agreed a two-year deal with the club, secured cult status among Leicester fans during his first spell at the club by scoring 37 goals in 89 games between 2002 and 2004. However, the Scot will probably have to settle for a place on the bench with Pearson expected to start with Matty Fryatt and Steve Howard in attack. Pearson has just two absentees. Long-term injury victims Stephen Clemence and Patrick Kisnorbo remain sidelined with the respective knee and cruciate ligament problems they suffered towards the end of last season.

Andrews boost

MK Dons boss Di Matteo has been boosted by the availability of captain Keith Andrews, who was taken off the transfer list on Thursday. New signings Peter Leven, Florian Sturm and Shaun Cummings are all in contention to make their debuts but Canadian striker Ali Gerba is unlikely to be granted a work permit in time. Defender Drissa Diallo is back in training after a shoulder injury while Kevin Gallen (toe) and Danny Swailes (Achilles) are also doubtful. Paul Mitchell completed his first 90 minutes for over 18 months in midweek after his horrific broken leg but is still some way short of challenging.
