Pulis set to make changes; Orient missing midfielder

Stoke manager Tony Pulis is expected to freshen up his side for the Carling Cup clash with Leyton Orient. The Potters have made a solid start to the new Premier League campaign and will be hoping to notch another win against an Orient side that has so far been inconsistent. Dave Kitson could be recalled to the Stoke attack as James Beattie suffered a knee problem in the draw against Birmingham on Saturday. Andy Griffin, Danny Pugh, Carl Dickinson and Leon Cort might all also feature in the second-round match.

    Orient news

Sean Thornton will miss out for Leyton Orient, but fellow midfielder Adam Chambers has been added to the squad. Former Sunderland playmaker Thornton missed Saturday's 3-3 draw at Yeovil after twisting his knee against Charlton in midweek. Ex-West Brom midfielder Chambers makes a welcome return, though, and could be in line for his first appearance of the season after overcoming a calf injury. Loanee Andros Townsend has been given permission to play by parent club Tottenham, while Ryan Jarvis is pressing for a start after climbing off the bench to earn the Os a point at the weekend. Rookie Darryl Sydes is the only other injury absentee with an ankle problem.
