Charlie Wyke headed a late winner as Carlisle clinched a first win in four games with a 1-0 Sky Bet League Two victory at Crawley.

Striker Wyke sent Crawley to a sixth successive defeat with his 14th goal of the season.

Crawley, who have won only twice at home since Boxing Day, should have gone ahead in the sixth minute when Gavin Tomlin had a shot cleared off the line by defender Macauley Gillesphey.

Carlisle began slowly although Alex McQueen put the ball into the side netting after a shot by winger Jack Stacey was blocked.

Tomlin, released by Lee Barnard, had a shot blocked before keeper Jack Rose came to Crawley's rescue by parrying a goal-bound shot from Wyke after a header by Jabo Ibehre.

Crawley boss Mark Yates brought on Roarie Deacon in place of Tomlin for the second half, and Deacon latched onto a ball over the top to force keeper Mark Gillespie to save well on 47 minutes.

Wyke was off target with a glancing header at the other end from a fine cross by McQueen.
