Luton are desperate to boost striking options, while Accrington have injury and suspension problems

Hatters look to bounce back after last minute reverse to Darlington

Rock-bottom Luton host Accrington at Kenilworth Road as they attempt mission impossible and escape relegation from the league. The Hatters were undone by a last minute Greg Blundell goal as they went down 2-1 at home to Darlington last time. Boss Mick Harford is desperate to boost his striking options for the clash after the club's loan move for Peterborough man Scott Rendell fell through on Thursday afternoon when Posh chose to loan him to Yeovil at the 11th hour. The Hatters have had free agent Wayne Andrews on trial throughout the week and the 30-year-old may also become an option. At the back, highly-rated teenage defender Jake Howells looks set to retain his place following an impressive display against Darlington, while 19-year-old striker Ryan Charles is also chasing a starting berth. Acting skipper Keith Keane should retain his place in the first XI after starting against the Quakers. Regular captain Kevin Nicholls remains sidelined with hamstring trouble, along with striker Drew Talbot who has a knee injury.

Accrington news

Accrington are expected to hand debuts to new loan signings Kallum Higginbotham and Kieran Charnock for the game. Defender Charnock could come in as cover for Robbie Williams, who must serve one more game of a two-match ban following his dismissal at Barnet. Peter Cavanagh is also forced to serve a suspension at Kenilworth Road after picking up his fifth yellow card of the campaign against Bradford last weekend. Boss John Coleman could be without Peter Murphy for several months as he may now need an operation after sustaining knee ligament damage in a reserve game two weeks ago. Stanley are also missing Ian Dunbavin who has a groin injury, and although Leam Richardson appeared in a training match with Wrexham earlier this week, he is unlikely to feature against the Hatters. Robert Grant is still not ready to return as he nurses a knee problem and on-loan striker Jamie Clarke is doubtful with a hip injury.
