Full Time. That's it. City battled hard after the break but it finishes 1-1 and they are eliminated from the Champions League with a game to go. Real Madrid go through with Borussia Dortmund.
Tevez nearly latches onto a through-ball but misses the connection as the ball drops over his shoulder.
City pushing for that winner but they are running out of time to keep their Champions League hopes alive.
Good interplay from City and Tevez fires off a shot from the left edge of the box but Casillas saves low to his right.
Ronaldo running at four defenders and is bodychecked by Kompany but the referee is still unimpressed. Some strange decisions this evening.
Silva does brilliantly to get away from Pepe and finds Dzeko in the left channel but the Bosnian fires his cross-shot with his weaker foot over everyone in the box.
City pushing for the winner now. And then Ronaldo tries to break but sees his shot deflected safely into the hands of Hart.
Ten-man Real Madrid are now 10/11 to earn a draw against City, with the home side 15/8 to win. Jose Mourinho's men are 9/2 to seal victory with 15 minutes to go.
It was a lunging challenge from Silva and he got the ball first but then caught Benzema on the ankle with the follow through.
Ronaldo gets a shove from Kompany and stops abruptly but the referee gives nothing to the delight of the crowd.
And that's when they are nearly punished. Ronaldo with a dipping shot that Hart cannot hold and the Portuguese forward nearly gets to the rebound first but City clear.
Chance! Maicon's cross is deflected and it seems easy for Aguero at the far post but Casillas saves brilliantly on the line and Real clear. Should be all-square here.
Wide-open game now. Ronaldo springs the offside trap on the left and has time to pick out the head of Khedira at the far post. He heads down but doesn't get enough on it. Chance spurned.
Chance for Real to break as they have four on three but Di Maria chooses the wrong option. At the other end, Silva's weak shot is straight at Casillas.
The crowd are getting involved now. Good chance to overload on the right but Dzeko and Silva both misplace passes. The Silva wriggles free and the ball finds Aguero who can run through on goal. But the forward's touch is poor and Casillas can force the ball away.
The corner comes to nothing but City do retain possession. Bright start after the break from the home side.
Maicon hangs a cross under the bar and Dzeko challenges with Casillas. The keeper isn't happy but not a lot in it. Corner to City.
Half Time. That's the end of the first half. Real Madrid are a goal up through Benzema and could have scored more in the early stages but didn't find a second and Manchester City are still clinging on in there.
Benzema with a shot well over the bar from distance. Real finding it tougher to get close to the City goal now though as we approach the interval.
Ronaldo threatens to break and is running at the City defence but Aguero has tracked back to tackle. Brilliant from the Argentine forward.
Scrappy passage of play. City keeping the ball better than they were though and the Real counter-attacks have dried up a little. No sign of an equaliser though.
Silva does well to get away from two challenges on the right and cut the ball back to Dzeko but the big forward is off balance and his left-footed shot balloons upwards.
Maicon shows what he can do at the other end with a surging run and one-two before toe-poking just wide of the post.
Gary Neville on Sky Sports points out that City have switched to a back-four now with Zabaleta having gone from the right of a back-three out to left-back. Suggests Mancini acknowledges the early tactical battle has been won by Mourinho.
One-two from Benzema on the edge of the box before he takes a wild swing and scuffs the ball with his left foot. The pace of this game is astonishing.
Chance! Khedira gets away from two and is through one-on-one with Hart. For some reason the midfielder delays and Hart is off his line to smother. Should have scored but instead City break through Aguero and his cross is put behind for a corner that Casillas claims. Cracking game.
Fast break from Real is devastating. Di Maria runs away from Toure - no easy task - and then crosses for Ronaldo who lays the ball off to the advancing Modric. His shot is blocked for a corner.
Five shots on target already from the visitors. City still waiting for their first effort on goal of any description.
Chance! Ronaldo beats the offside trap and lobs Hart. But Nastasic is back on the line to clear... only as far as Ronaldo. He has another chance and shimmies past Hart only to see the keeper get enough on the shot to deflect it wide of the post for a corner. That comes to nothing and City recover. They are being completely outplayed at the moment.
Ronaldo is enjoying himself now. Skins Kompany not once but twice. He then crosses for Khedira at the near post but the Germany international gets too much on the header.
Ronaldo has Maicon and Zabaleta for company but he still gets a cross in. Khedira opens up his body as the ball comes across but his side-footed effort skews wide.
Horrible defending from Maicon. Di Maria curls the cross in from the right and Benzema has pulled onto Maicon at the far edge of the area. He drifts in completely unmarked and slots the ball past Hart from close range.
Lightning break by Real but Benzema cannot quite get away and has to cut inside. Ronaldo fuming that Zabaleta is not being punished for a clear foul in the build-up.
Confusion in the Real defence and Silva has the chance to shoot from distance but checks the shot and tries a through-ball that is blocked.
Real beginning to get their foot on the ball. Coentrao beats Maicon but his cut-back is intercepted.
Dzeko does well to bring the ball down with his chest but Ramos recovers to put in a crunching challenge.
Positive start from the home side as they win possession in the Real half. But Kolarov's cross isn't a good one and the visitors can break.
James has a bold prediction: "6-0 to Real Madrid with Ronaldo to score a hat-trick and on the third goal, take off his jersey to reveal a United one underneath!"
Jack: "I think this is going to be a difficult game for Madrid but I still see them winning the game with Ronaldo getting two goals and Kolarov getting a lone goal so my prediction is 1-2 to Madrid but it's going to be a difficult game for them."
Akshet: "Close game but Madrid are always the favourites to win any game. Hart will be key to keeping City in the game but it won't be enough. 3-1 Madrid. Tevez, Ronaldo, Benzema and Ramos with the goals."
But they'll need to remain vigilant late on as 60% of Real Madrid's goals have been netted in the final 15 minutes of games (including all three in their opening match against City); a competition high proportion.
City will fancy their chances of scoring tonight. Real Madrid have kept just one clean sheet in their last 10 Champions League games.
As for that man Ronaldo. He has scored 15 goals in his last 13 Champions League appearances and has netted in four of his last six appearances against Manchester City.
Only two teams have ever had two points or fewer after four match days and qualified for the next stage (Lokomotiv 2002-03 & Porto 2004-05).
Steve says: "Mancini needs a result here so badly you can almost hear those teeth grinding. Kolarov can be a big player tonight and goals are certainly on the cards. I fancy a 2-2 draw and another early exit. Sorry Roberto!"
Farah: "Greetings from New Dehli, India. Everyone over here is looking for City to qualify as we think that the City manager is a great man. We are a bit nervous and concerned as we not only have to score but we also have to stop world-class players in Real Madrid from scoring."
Ian: "Hope you don't mind an exiled blue living in Spain. I am going for 2-1 win for my beloved blues tonight. There has been a lot of hype about Ronaldo but the Etihad has not been a happy hunting ground for the Portuguese primadonna. He has played five times there, scored once and been sent off twice."

But the Portuguese coach does acknowledge that City can be a threat in a one-off game and Roberto Mancini could really do with showing everybody he knows what he's doing in Europe.
Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has already written off the Premier League champions' hopes of qualification from Group D.
City need to win here and in Dortmund in their final game as well as hope results elsewhere go their way if they are to qualify.
