Dyer: Impressive home debut

FULL-TIME: Against the run of play, Wigan opened the scoring after a fantastic overhead kick from Paul Scharner deep into the second half. The away side rarely troubled West Ham and in the last ten minutes, the Hammers equalised through Lee Bowyer. The home side will be kicking themselves however as after the majority of the possession, they failed to take their chances infront of goal as the score ended 1-1.

89- Penalty claim: Intricate play from Ashton as he plays the ball to tricky Dyer who goes down under a challenge, but again West Ham are waved to play on

83 - Freekick: Ashton has an ambitious effort as his freekick flies over the bar. Both sides up the tempo to push for the elusive winner

51- Handball: Landzaat handles on the edge of the box as Noble steps up to take the resulting freekick in a dangerous position

50- Interchange: Dyer runs at the Wigan defence with pace and purpose as a dummy from Hayden Mullins falls to skipper Neill but his return ball to Dyer in the box leaves the England winger offside

48- Shields: Granqvist battles with Bellamy to see the ball out for a goal-kick after a rare Wigan attack is broken down and the Hammers countered once more

46- Quiet start: Both teams are unchanged after the interval as the sides begin the second half quietly

HALF-TIME: After having a penalty claim turned down, West Ham go into the interval the better side. Wigan have had to work hard to maintain possession as the impressive home debutant, Kieron Dyer, has caused problems for the away side's back-four. Wigan were slowly coming back into the game just before half-time and Chris Hutchings had to make a quick substitution when Antoine Sibierski suffered a hamstring injury. His replacement Julius Aghahowa, has looked bright but Lucas Neill's back-four have rarely been troubled. Zamora and Bellamy are continuing to cause problems as the Hammers look the most likely to open the scoring.

45- Foul: Zamora gives away a soft freekick in the Wigan half as Granqvist falls to the ground in the second minute of injury time

45- Ambitious effort: A 30yard freekick from the hard-working Noble doesn't trouble Kirkland as it sails over the bar

45- Freekick: Melchiot is fouled on the edge of the box down the right channel and from a Koumas' freekick, it falls to Heskey who blazes it over into row Z

44- Post: Koumas rattles the post after his powerful drive beats Green and goes out for a goal-kick

41- Handball: A furious Bellamy is penalised for handball and gives away another foul deep into Wigan's half as the quick free-kick reaches Koumas in West Ham's half but he fires well wide

38- Injury: Sibierski goes straight down the tunnel into the changing rooms after suffering with a hamstring injury and is replaced by Julius Aghahowa

37- 50-50 ball: Zamora rises high with Kirkland after a lofted shot from Mullins, but the Wigan 'keeper collects as the flag goes up once more

35- Chance: Bellamy thinks he scores in the bottom corner but is denied by the offside flag after running onto a defence-splitting throughball

32- Offside appeal: Bellamy defies the offside flag but can't bring the ball down in the 18-yard box after good work from Zamora

28- Penalty claim: Noble goes to ground infront of goal after contact from Andreas Granqvist but the referee waves play on

23- Space: Dyer again finds space to curl in a teasing cross for Zamora, but the ball sails past him as Wigan try and string a few passes together

18- Header: From West Ham's second corner of the game, the ball is cleared to Dyer who lofts in a cross from the right only for Anton Ferdinand to head wide

18- Pacey run: Bellamy releases Dyer into the box, and the energetic winger forces a corner after a lunging tackle from Bramble

15- Throughball: After smart intercharges from the away side, Koumas releases a throughball but Heskey fails to chase

14- Nerves: A nervous Wigan back-four clear the danger once more as Sibierski has his ambitious shot blocked

2- Offside: Zamora flagged for offside with his back to goal on the edge of the box in the opening minutes
