Sam Allardyce

Allardyce: Defeated

90 + 3 ALL OVER: Pompey cruise to victory to go to seven games unbeaten in the Premier League.

90 - Added time: There will be three minutes stoppage time.

86 - Substitution: Muntari is replaced by Pedro Mendes

85 - No way through: Portsmouth's rock solid defence has never looked in trouble in the second half

81 - Mass exit: the Newcastle faithful are pouring out of St James' Park as it appears their unbeaten home record is coming to an end.

80 - Great save: James denies Martins from close range after the striker had been found by a Barton cross.

78 - What a pass: Kranjcar plays a lovely ball through the inside left channel, but Kanu is just caught on his heels and Harper snuffs out the danger.

75 - Substitution: With the game won, Pompey have replaced Benjani with Nwankwo Kanu.

71 - GOAL!!! Kranjcar curls in a free-kick from wide on the left, which takes a slight deflection off Taylor's shin to go past Harper.

68 - Substitution: newcastle bring on Emre for Milner.

67 - Should have done better: Kranjcar has an exceleent chance, but heads straight at Harper.

66 - Another chance: Smith turns on a ball in the penalty area, but his effort is straight at James.

65 - Chance: Owen tries a curling effort, but James is behind the effort all the way.

63 - Corner? Diop wants a corner after challenging for a cross with Abdoulaye Faye, but the officials decide it is a goal kick.

60 - No threat: Newcastle have failed to threaten a second goal and it is Pompey who look like getting another goal as Benjani looks dangerous.

58 - No control: Neither side seem capable of controlling in the ball in the second half, but Newcastle - who are now playing with three up front - appear better organised.

56 - Booking: Sean Davis is booked after clattering Barton as Martins comes on for Jose Enrique.

55 - No chance: Newcastle attempt to play the ball in behind Sylvain Distin, but the centre-back is far too athletic.

52 - Opportunity: N'Zogbia has a free-kick well placed on 20 yards, but he balloons the effort well over the top.

49 - Lovely move: Kranjcar slips a good ball through to Muntari whose cross just evades Benjani.

47 - We're back: Newcastle get the second half going. Will they be able to stage a remarkable comeback.

45 + 2 - HALF-TIME: What a half! Both sides have lived up to their entertaining tag, in different ways, and the second half cannot come quick enough.

45 - Added time: There will be two minutes added time.

41 - Ticking off: Smith receives a lecture from referee Chris Foy after another bruising challenge. The Newcastle player needs to watch his step after already being booked.

40 - Booking: Butt goes in the book after a challenge on Diop is harshly adjudged to be worthy of a yellow card.

39 - Follow my leader: N'Zogbia drives towards the box, but blasts an effort well wide.

38 - Ambitious: Joey Barton, who is making his full home debut, meets a Michael Owen knock down to fire miles over from 20 yards.

37 - Booking: Alan Smith receives a yellow card for a crunching tackle on Campbell

35 - Desperate Newcastle: The home fans appear to recognise that one goal before half-time could set up a storming second-half. They have 10 minutes.

33- Booking: Sylvain Distin is booked for clattering Smith.

31- Rampaging Taylor: The full-back bursts forward and beats a couple of Pompey defenders, but in his desperation to try and get Newcastle back into the game he runs the ball out of play.

30 - Calmer times: the game has now steadied, but anything less than 100 miles per hour would be slow after the start.

27 - Not a bad effort: Muntari has a go from all of 40 yards, but his effort is not a million miles away from adding more drama to this first-half.

24 - Open at the back: Niko Kranjcar dances through four Newcastle defenders before the ball is eventually cleared out for a corner. Newcastle are in danger of leaving the back door open as they attempt to get back into the game, but they have little choice.

20 - Brilliant save: James produces another sensational stop to deny Steven Taylor from close range

19 - Penalty? Rozehnal appears to handle in his own box from a Pompey corner.

17 - Substitution: Cacapa is hauled off after his woeful start and is replaced by David Rozehnal.

16 - GOAL!!! The comeback is on. Sol Campbell is unfortunate to score an own goal as James saves from Owen, who had pounced on a Charles N'Zogbia shot, only to see the ball deflect in off Campbell.

12 - Mixed fortunes: the boos are beginning to ring around St James' Park, while the Pompey faithful are chanting we want seven!

11 - GOAL!!! Pompey go three in front as more comical defending from Cacapa sees John Utaka race clear and round Harper to roll in.

9 - GOAL!!! Pompey strike twice in a minute when Papa Diop plays a long ball to Benjani who curls in a beautiful effort after holding off Claudio Cacapa for his eighth goal in 11 Premier League games.

8 - GOAL!!! From the resulting corner, Newcastle half clear only for Noe Pamarot to pile drive in an effort from 30 yards.

7 - Corner: Benjani Mwaruwari has a shot deflected wide for a corner

5 - Good save: Nicky Butt, who is captaining Newcastle plays a sweeping ball to Owen who sets up Smith whose deflected effort is brilliantly tipped behind for a corner by David James in the Pompey goal.

3 - Keep an eye out: It is going to be interesting to see how Owen and Alan Smith play together after Smith was given the nod over Martins.

2 - Offside: Michael Owen, preying on the shoulder of the Pompey defence, looks to break the offside trap but is just too early in his run.

Kick-off: Portsmouth get us underway. Three points for Newcastle would see them overtake Pompey in the league table.

Kick-off approaches: St James' Park is a bit of a bogey ground for Pompey. They have not won at Newcastle since 1949.
