90 - FULL-TIME: Reading battle back to force a draw at Upton Park. Gunnarsson was sent off for a two-footed challenge on Mullins before Solano put West Ham ahead before half-time. Kitson equalised in the second half before Ashton hit the post late on.
90 - Ashton agony: The Hammers striker almost grabs a winner but heads against the post from six yards.
90 - Substitution: A token late change for Reading as Andre Bikey replaces Doyle.
90 - Nearly again for Parker: After scoring a last-minute winner against Boro on Saturday, Parker almost does it again, cutting inside but giving Hahnemann an easy save.
90 - Reading surviving: West Ham are applying some late pressure, but Reading are coping well - it's going to take some magic or a mistake for a winner.
85 - Substitution: Shane Long is coming on for Reading to replace Kitson, who scored a fine goal and has performed a manful task leading the line since Gunnarsson's sending off. Deserves an ovation today.
78 - Penalty shout: Noble has an immediate impact as he runs powerfully down the right and his cross hits the hand of Ingimarsson, but a penalty would have been harsh with the Reading defender trying to get his arm out of the way.
78 - Substitution: Solano is taken out of the fray, with Mark Noble bringing his enthusiasm into the game. Will he be the spark for the Hammers in the closing stages?
77 - Little doing: West Ham struggling to break down the Reading defence and at this stage the money has to be on a draw.
72 - Substitution: The Hammers look to freshen up the attack with Henri Camara coming on for Cole, who has had a disappointing game.
67 - Yellow card: Shorey follows Cole into the notebook for a similar type of challenge as he pulls back Ljungberg.
66 - Substitution: Reading make a change as Khalifa Cisse comes on for Convey to add his industry to the team.
65 - Yellow card: Cole has his name taken for tugging back Hunt's shirt - no complaints.
64 - Fine save from Hahnemann: A wonderfully weighted pass from Parker puts Ljungberg in behind the defence, but he opts for a shot, rather than cross, and Hahnemann thrusts out a hand to save.
63 - Hammers hit post: West Ham almost quickly reclaim the lead as Spector meets a corner at the near post and glances his header against the upright from Solano's corner. Reading need to brush up on their defending at set-pieces.
60 - GOAL! Reading are back on level terms. West Ham fail to clear a corner, Shorey cleverly dinks the ball into the box and Kitson spins sharply to volley beyond Green - just what Reading deserve.
55 - Murty down again: This time the Reading captain is caught by McCartney's outstretched arm. Looked an innocuous incident and didn't really look much contact - maybe he has just been poked in the eye! Certainly takes something to keep Murty down for long.
53 - Sonko scare: Solano's raking long pass tries to find Ashton, Sonko is there, but his attempted clearance flies past his own goal and out for a corner. Phew!
52 - Poor Parker decision: The Hammers midfielder escapes into the box and does well to evade the attentions of Hunt. But, from a tight angle, he fires a shot straight at Hahnemann - an assist may have been the better option.
48 - Hearts a flutter: A scare for Reading as Ingimarsson misses a long clearance. Ashton shows good strength to hold off Sonko, but the Reading defender recovers well to block the shot.
46 - And we're back: West Ham get things going for the second half at Upton Park. Neither team has made a change as Reading look to come from a goal down with a man down. Can the Royals do it? Or will West Ham use their nous to see out the game.
45 - HALF-TIME: Nolberto Solano's well-taken goal has given West Ham the lead at the break, while Reading are down to 10 men after Brynjar Gunnarsson was sent off for a two-footed challenge. Reading are unfortunate to be a goal behind, but could face a big battle in the second half.
45 - Yellow cards: The last thing Reading need is to get another player sent off as Hunt is booked for Reading and Green is cautioned for West Ham. Green was unhappy with Hunt's nudge on Parker, nothing in that really, sensible refereeing in the end.
42 - GOAL! West Ham make the breakthrough courtesy of clever play from Solano. He picks up a loose ball on the edge of the box, lifts it over a defender and then delicately dinks a shot over the onrushing Hahnemann.
37 - Striking difference: There is a marked contrast between the respective strike pairings. Kitson and Doyle, prior to the sending off, have been dove-tailing perfectly, but aside from the odd moments, Ashton and Cole have yet to gel - not quite strangers, but not far off.
32 - Getting closer: West Ham are starting to turn the screw following a fine move from the back. The ball is knocked down into the path of Ashton, who lifts his volley on to the roof of the net.
30 - Royals survive: From the resulting free-kick, West Ham almost take the lead as Neill fails to glance past Hahnemann before Murty puts in a tremendous block on Ljungberg.
29 - RED CARD! Gunnarsson has been sent off for Reading after a two-footed lunge on Mullins. He may not have touched Mullins, but in the current climate you can't dive in with both feet in the air, whether you touch the man or not.
28 - Ashton arrows wide: The Hammers striker has looked a little leggy so far - maybe a bit much asking him to play again after Saturday - and he scuffs a rather tired shot wide from 25 yards.
24 - Flag's up: Ashton's blushes for a poor miss are spared by an offside call. The West Ham striker had strayed a little too far beyond the defence after Cole knocked down McCartney's cross.
21 - Murty's back: After a spot of treatment, Murty is back on - the wonders of the 'Magic Sponge!'
20 - Murty down: The Reading skipper is receiving treatment after being caught on the foot by Ljungberg. The Swede got to the ball first and landed on Murty as he ran on - a pure accident, but the full-back looks in a bit of pain.
18 - Great stop Green: Doyle and Kitson combine superbly well again to create a chance for Convey who smashes his shot against Green, who showed alert reactions to come racing out of his goal.
16 - Doyle takes a whack: The Reading striker comes off worst in a tangle with McCartney as the Irishman slides into the hoardings and bangs his head. Ouch!
12 - Harper hammers one: The Reading midfielder hits a crisp shot with his left foot on the half-volley from 25 yards, but it is straight at Green - very encouraging start from both teams at Upton Park.
11 - Flatters to deceive: A sharp move from West Ham, as Cole plays a one-two with striker partner Ashton, but then disappointingly drags his shot well across goal. Wasn't an easy chance, but should have done better.
8 - Doyle dives in: More bright play from Reading. Kitson does well to create space in the box, and he clips in a cross which Doyle meets with a diving header straight at Green. Perhaps a pass into feet would have given Doyle a better scoring opportunity.
7 - Bright start: Reading look like they steered clear of the Christmas turkey and pudding yesterday, showing great zest and enthusiasm in these early stages, while West Ham are just trying to get hold of the ball.
4 - Close shave Solano: The Peruvian midfielder sizes up a free-kick 30 yards from goal and whips it smartly over the wall, but despite Hahnemann scrambling across goal, the Reading keeper has it covered.
3 - Doyle determined: Reading respond well, with Doyle turning away from his man 30 yards from goal, running towards the box and driving wide of the target. Promising signs for an entertaining game.
1 - Early effort: The Hammers are quickly on the front foot, with Hayden Mullins making a good break from midfield and shooting straight at Hahnemann from the edge of the box. West Ham will be looking to keep this up.
0 - Kick-off: Reading get us underway at Upton Park. Can they repeat last season's 1-0 win here, or will the Hammers be too strong this time?
Doubling up: Reading did the double over West Ham last season, but the boot could be on the other foot come 3pm. West Ham won 3-0 at the Madejski earlier in the season and, given Reading's away record, will be optimistic of another three points. Reading have yet to win in eight away games this term, although the Hammers have not won at Upton Park in two months.
Reading team: Hahnemann, Murty, Sonko, Ingimarsson, Shorey, Hunt, Harper, Gunnarsson, Convey, Kitson, Doyle. Subs: Federici, Cisse, Lita, Bikey, Long.
Team news: Steve Coppell has opted to stick with a winning formula after making no changes to the team which secured a dramatic late win at home to Sunderland on Saturday.
West Ham team: Green, Neill, Upson, McCartney, Spector, Solano, Mullins, Parker, Ljungberg, Cole, Ashton. Subs: Wright, Ferdinand, Camara, Noble, Pantsil.
Team news: West Ham make just one change from the team which won 2-1 at Middlesbrough on Saturday, with Carlton Cole replacing Henri Camara up front after serving a suspension.
