49 - Substitution Predicatbly, Etherington makes way for Solano. Why he came back on for the start of the second half is anybody's guess.

47 - Still struggling Etherington, who picked up a knock in the first half, does not seem to have fully recovered yet and a change could be imminent.

Back underway Wigan get the second half started.

HALF-TIME There were few chances until deep into stoppage time and Wigan will be buoyed by Kilbane's goal going into the second half.

45 - GOAL Kilbane puts Wigan in front on the stroke of half-time as he heads Taylor's delightful free-kick beyond Green from a tight angle.

44 - Peripheral figure King has made litt;le impact on his home debut for Wigan and he strays intop an offside position as Valencia poses problems down the right.

41 - Chance goes begging Taylor's devilish cross from the right is crying out for a finishing touch but Boyce cannot provide it. Wigan are starting to look more threatening.

39 - Caution Upson has barely put a foot wrong but he is caught out by Valencia down the right and brings him down to prevent further trouble. His reward is a yellow card.

38 - Risky business Wigan play their way out of trouble at the back. A dangerous tactic but it works this time.

36 - Poor effort Taylor has another go from open play but hits this shot a long way wide.

34 - Just wide Taylor curls a free-kick just wide of the post from a central position 20 yards out.

30 - No way through Heskey has had a frustrating afternoon and he is easily dispossessed by Ferdinand as he tries to charge through the centre.

26 - Awful shot Robert Green has had nothing to do so far and is not troubled by a Heskey strike from long range that is sliced so wide it nearly goes out for a throw-in.

24 - Headed clear Wigan win a free-kick in a dangerous position but Upson heads Taylor's delivery away to safety.

21 - Injury scare for Etherington Etherington stays down after a challenge from Palacios and Curbishley may have to make an early substitution.

19 - Scrambled clear Palacios manages to get the ball away just in time as West Ham enjoy a sustained period of pressure.

17 - Good defence There have been no real chances at either end yet, with Upson and Ferdinand looking particularly solid at the back for West Ham.

11 - Caution Taylor is yellow carded for a cynical foul on Ljungberg. The Hammers midfielder is left with a limp and comes over to the touchline to receive treatment.

9 - Lively start Both sides have now settled into a fast tempo and the game is wide open.

5 - Test for Kirkland Ljungberg draws a smart stop from Kirkland with a powerful volley on the turn.

4 - Scrappy That ugly worn strip running from goal to goal is still there and Wigan's play so far has been unattractive too, with West Ham on top early on.

2 - First attempt Palacios tries his luck from distance but cannot kep his shot down and it sails into the crowd.
