70 mins - Nearly an own goal Great run by Whitehead down the left and Mikel puts it just past the post - almost an own goal but the Chelsea man did well in the end.

69 mins - Sunderland on back-foot The home side are being pend in their own half although Chelsea are not creating too much. Lampard free-kick is easily cleared by the home side.

64 mins - Close again Better form Chelsea this time Joe Cole feeds in Drogba, his cross-come-shot almost comes for Lampard but it just beats him at the back post.

63 mins - Lack of numbers Kalou makes a great run down the left and crosses into the box but there is only Drogba anywhere near and it is easy for Sunderland to clear.

61 mins - Change made Sunderland make first change with Rade Prica coming on for Edwards.

59 mins - Chelsea yellow The game is getting a bit scrappy. Mikel is booked for bringing down Reid.

57 mins - Another booking Leadbitter goes into the book for poor challenge on Drogba.

54 mins - Pressure mounts Good play from Chelsea as the build up and attack. Drogba is almost played in but again Bardsley produces a very good challenge.

29 mins - Counter-attack Sunderland break down the other end and win a corner off Bardsley but Chelsea clear through Terry.

28 mins - Lucky Black Cats Great ball from Drogba on the right causes chaos and Bardsley some how manages to clear and the ball bounces off Lampard's arm - lucky as that could of gone anywhere.

26 mins - Danger Real chance for Sunderland on the edge of the box as Mikel barges into the back of Jones. Reid takes and it needs a great save from Cudicini to keep it out.

25 mins - Ugly scenes Joe Cole confronts Dean Whitehead after challenge from Sunderland captain. Cole is lucky to escape punishment for his reaction.

10 mins - GOAL Chelsea pressure pays off as John Terry heads home unmarked from Lampard's corner.

8 mins - Big Chelsea chance Drogba plays a through ball to Kalou, Bardsley produces a great last ditch challenge and the ball breaks for Joe Cole but his shot deflects wide off Nyron Nosworthy. The corner comes in and the ball agaoin drops for Joe Cole but again Nosworthy is there to clear.

7 mins - Penalty appeals Sunderland call for a penalty as Roy O'Donovan gets wrong side of John Terry and he looks to have brought him down but referee Mike Dean waves play on - unlucky for Sunderland.

5 mins - Away pressure Chelsea finally get hold of the ball in midfield and Frank Lampard feeds Ashley Cole, he crosses for Didier Drogba but Danny Collins clears for a corner. The set-piece comes in and Michael Ballack is free but he cannot re-direct his header.

2 mins - Clever play Good play from Andy Reid see him win an early corner. Reid takes it but Alex clears ahead of Kenwyne Jones.

1 min - Early salvo Chelsea attack through Solomon Kalou down the left but David Bardsley clears.
