FULL-TIME : City have won it 2-1 thanks to goals from Elano (penalty) and Darius Vassell after Dean Whitehead had cancelled out Elano's opener.

90 - Hart alert: Hart is quickly off his line to collect the ball ahead of Edwards.

89 - Double save : Gordon saves Petrov's free-kick and from the rebound Benjani sees his shot kept out by the Scottish international.

89 - SUB: Hamann comes on for Elano.

GOAL : Vassell restores City's lead when he scuffs the ball home from Elano's pass.

What a miss : Elano misses a great chance to restore City's lead when he somehow blazes his volley over the top from just six-yards out.

GOAL: Dean Whitehead draws Sunderland level with a superb volley from Reid's cross.

79 - SUB: O'Donovan comes on for Chopra for Sunderland as they look to get back in the game

GOAL : Elano scores from the spot sending Gordon the wrong way from the spot.

PENALTY: Sturridge is brought down by Nosworthy and is booked for his troubles.

61 - Jones chance : Jones risest highest to meet Reid's corner, but his header is straight at Hart.

No change : An hour gone and the game remains deadlocked. Who could provide the difference for either side?

54 - Wasted by Murphy: Murphy has a sight of goal, but he takes too long and Ball gets back to smother the danger.

52 - Corluka in pain: Corluka is down in agony after a late tackle by Murphy, but the defender should be fine to continue.

50 - Great work : Chopra does brilliantly to rob Michael Ball of the ball and he wins a corner out of nothing.

48 - Great chance : The ball drops to Murphy inside the box and he cuts inside Petrov only to curl his shot over the top. He should have done better.

RESTART : Change at the break Grant Leadbitter is on for Kieran Richardson.

HALF-TIME: It is goalless at the break after a disappointing opening 45 minutes with Kenwyne Jones going closest to breaking the deadlock. Do both managers need to make changes at the break? What changes can they make to make this a better contest?

40 - Sums it up : Michael Johnson makes space in midfield with some nice skill and then kicks the ball out needlessly. That sums the game up so far.

Keane looking unhappy: Roy Keane is letting rip down on the sidelines he does not look happy with how things are going and you can't really blame him.

36 - Whitehead opening : Dean Whitehead has a sight of goal after Jones' knock down but he drives his volley over the top.

35 - Hart worry : Joe Hart needs some treatment after a clash with Kenwyne Jones. Sven Goran Eriksson will be hoping his keeper is okay to continue.

32 - No potency : City look good up the final third but their moves are breaking down on the edge of the Sunderland box.

31 - Dunne block : Dunne throws himself at the ball to block Chopra's shot on the edge of the box.

28 - Stalemate : Not many chances at the Stadium of Light with both sides cancelling each other out.

: City fan Adam Higson believes his men can win 3-1 it does not look like that so far.

23 - Jones denied : Jones races clear of Dunne, but Hart is quickly off his line to block the striker's shot.

22 BOOKING : Bardsley is the first player to be booked by referee Mike Riley for a foul on Michael Johnson.

Money talks : Sunderland fan John Hannah has bets on 3-2 and 1-0 to the home side. Drinks are on John if the bets come up.

That must have hurt : Corluka too one full on from Richardson's shot and he needs some treatment.

15 - Even stevens : There is not much between the two sides in the opening 15 minutes with Petrov looking the man most likely for City and Richardson at the heart of things for Sunderland.

13 - Ireland worry: Stephen Ireland needs some treatment after being caught by Collins and it appears to be a knee problem.

11 - City corner : City win their first corner of the game, but Dunne is penalised for a foul on Danny Collins.

Singapore dream: Sunderland fan Dave Clark is in Singapore wishing he was at the game. That is dedication and he is predicting a 2-1 home win.

8 - Dunne mistake : Dunne slices the ball horribly giving away a corner, but City manage to defend Reid's delivery.

6 - Corner : Sunderland win the first corner of the game, but City clear the danger.

Benjani hope : City fan Gareth has his money on Benjani for first goal at 9/1. Good luck with that.

3 - Bright start : Sunderland have made the brigher start of the two sides with Richardson featuring prominently.

Richardson effort : Kieran Richardson has the first shot at goal but his effort sails over the bar.
