Forssell: Put Birmingham in front
90 + 3 - ALL OVER: Things end with honours even. Birmingham will not believe they have thrown away their lead as they look set to take their relegation battle all the way to the wire. Stay with Skysports.com for all the post-match reaction.
90 - Added time: There will be three minutes added time.
87 - Substitution: Birmingham bring on Mauro Zarate for Forssell.
85 - Honours even: Liverpool have taken their foot off the gas a little. A point would assure fourth place due to their superior goal difference.
83 - Dumbstruck: Birmingham have had the wind taken out of their sails and it does not look as if they know what to do.
80 - Brilliant Pennant: The Liverpool winger has been excellent. Birmingham fans have, understandably gone very quiet.
76 - Substitution: Birmingham replace Kapo and Nafti with Franck Queudrue and Gary McSheffrey.
75 - GOAL LIVERPOOL!!! Benayoun heads in. Birmingham have blown their two-goal lead as Lucas crosses and Benyaoun nods to see his effort deflect in off Jaidi.
70 - Chance: Benayoun should do better as he volleys a Finnan cross wide. This is going to be a long 20 minutes for all Birmingham supporters. I expect there are a few sets of nails being bitten. Pennant is doing very well.
68 - Sigh of relief: Birmingham are relieved as Voronin drags just wide. Simon reckons his Birmingham side will stay in the top-flight. They are hanging on here.
65 - Substitution: Riise makes way for Emiliano Insua. Mehdi Nafti is booked for fouling Pennant.
63 - GOAL LIVERPOOL!!! Crouch pulls one back. Pennant does excellently to feed Crouch via Voronin. Crouch then fires in to the bottom corner.
62 - Corner: Birmingham win a corner, but Ridgewell heads wide. He should have done better.
58 - No reply: Voronin looks frustrated as he fouls. Liverpool do not look like they will get back in to this.
55 - GOAL BIRMINGHAM!!! It is 2-0 as Larsson curls in. The free-kick is brilliantly executed, but Liverpool believe goalkeeper Reina was illegally unsighted by Radhi Jaidi. Great goal.
53 - Foul: Skrtel brings down McFadden 30 yards from goal. Larsson looks like he is lining it up.
52 - Confident: Birmingham fan Simon Andrews is sure his side will cling on to the points as they are Liverpool's bogey team. Looks like they are going to have their work cut out. Liverpool are on top.
50 - Had a word: Benitez has clearly spoken to his troops at the interval as they appear far more intent to make a contest of this half.
47 - Spectacular: Riise goes for a flying volley in the Birmingham box, but he completely misses the ball. Liverpool fans must wish he had done that in midweek.
46 - Bright start: Crouch looks like a man on a mission at the start of the half. But Birmingham see off the danger. Liverpool's attack was blunt in the first 45 minutes.
46 - WE'RE BACK: Birmingham will be hoping for more of the same as they get the second half under way. Blues followers Steve and John are confident their side can hang on for the points as they always rise to the occasion against the 'big teams'. Remeber it is peter.fraser@bskyb.com if you want to drop me a line.
45 + 1 - HALF-TIME: The half-time whistle goes. Birmingham are in front thanks to Forsell. If they could hang on to this it would be a massive boost to their survival hopes.
45 - Decent effort: Riise curls over, but it is a good try.
45 - Added time: There will be one minute added time. Daniel W thinks Liverpool are in trouble now they have fallen behind. I think you could be right. Birmingham look solid, but Liverpool have a free-kick on the right corner of the box. Riise may fancy this.
42 - Booking: For a minute I thought Voronin was heading for an early bath as referee Peter Walton spent a long time discussing with one of his assistants, but the card is only yellow for a raised arm challenge on Ridgewell.
40 - Half-time approaches: With five minutes to go before the break, Liverpool have responded well as Crouch tests Maik Taylor from range. But Birmingham look well placed to hand on to half-time.
38 - Positive Pennant: The Liverpool winger takes a short corner and Birmingham clear. But Pennant has probably been his side's best player this afternoon.
35 - Good spell: Jason is gloating as Forsell proves his point. Birmingham are enjoying a good period, but Liverpool have a corner.
34 - GOAL BIRMINGHAM!!! Forssell scores. McFadden does well down the right and crosses to find his colleague, who is in acres to allow the simple opportunity of firing in.
30 - Good call: Joshua reckons it is going to 'one of those afternoons'. On the evidence so far, I think you are right. Meanwhile, Paul Hastings has blasted Benitez for failing to allow Torres the opportunity to target Ruud van Nistelrooy's record for goals scored.
29 - Jason question: Terry C is questioning Jason's judgement as he suggests that if Birmingham's attack was that powerful, they would not be in the bottom three.
27 - Spoke too soon: Kapo, who I would like to point out that I picked as my One to Watch in the match preview, shows tidy skills to jink past Steve Finnan but his cross misses any of his team-mates.
25 - Foul: Benayoun chops down Stephen Kelly to hand Birmingham a foul deep in their own territory. Not really worthy of note, I know, but it is all that is happening.
23 - Looked tight: Pennant floats one over the top for Voronin, but the all too familiar sound of the referees whistle rings out for offside. Frustrating for all concerned in red as the Striker looked level, but Birmingham are happy.
Liverpool beware: Jason J feels Liverpool face a tricky afternoon due to the fire power in the Birmingham attack. Not much evidence of that so far Jason.
18 - Riise watch: The Norwegian is lining up a trademark long throw, but he opts to go short. Maybe nerves got the better of him in doubting his ability.
14 - Waste: Birmingham have looked very nervous and they hit their corner out of play. That sums things up so far I'm afraid to say. I think I will need you comments to keep me entertained!
Bradshaw warning: Birmingham win their first corner of the match. But Guy Bradshaw is warning the Blues to beware of Plessis, who he says is the new Vieira after watching the midfielder in Liverpool's reserve side.
13 - Forssell danger: The Birmingham striker shows good strenght to hold off Sami Hyypia and turn and volley at goal, but it is a comfortable save for Jose Reina. Good play.
Cathal support: Cathal is also backing Riise and is delighted to see him starting> the Norwegian does look a little nervous, but he has yet to have any real involvement. I'm sure he would appreciate all the support.
10 - Chance: Birmingham have the opportunity to build some pressure with a free-kick, but Liam Ridgewell punts the ball out of play.
8 - Getting closer: Lucas appears to be in a more attacking role today as he his found after good work from Peter Crouch and Andrei Voronin, but his volley is a tame one.
7 - On top: Liverpool are dominating the ball, but is this what you expected Birmingham fans? Don't forget it is peter.fraser@bskyb.com if you want to get in touch.
5 - Corner: Liverpool have a corner and the ball falls to Lucas on the edge of the box. His first effort was a sight-setter I hear you say, but this it is another horrible slice. Shooting not the Brazilian's strong point I think it is fair to say.
3 - Nice start: Former Birmingham winger Jermaine Pennant is causing problems on the right against his old club as Liverpool enjoy a nice piece of possession. Andrew Thompson is also going for a Liverpool win, but that might be a bit optimistic as Lucas Leiva smashes an effort which is closer to the corner flag.
1 - No flag: Forssell looks to play through McFadden, but the Scottish forward is uninterested in the ball as he believes he is offside, but there is no flag. Waste.
KICK-OFF: Liverpool get the game going in front of a sell out crowd at St Andrews.
Kick-off approaches: Liverpool fan David Fletcher is disappointed not to see more youngsters in the Reds' first XI, but he is backing Riise for a good game in a 2-1 win. What do you think Birmingham supporters, or are you too nervous?
Team news: Mikael Forssell and James McFadden start in attack for Birmingham, while Olivier Kapo earns a starting spot. As predicted, Liverpool have rung the changes as there is no place for Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher drop to the bench as Damien Plessis starts. John Arne Riise has the opportunity to right his wrongs.
Liverpool team: Reina, Finnan, Hyypia, Skrtel, Riise, Pennant, Plessis, Lucas, Benayoun, Crouch, Voronin. Subs: Itandje, Gerrard, Kuyt, Carragher, Insua.
Birmingham team Maik Taylor, Kelly, Jaidi, Ridgewell, Murphy, Larsson, Muamba, Nafti, Kapo, Forssell, McFadden. Subs: Doyle, Jerome, McSheffrey, Queudrue, Zarate.
Your say: Birmingham are battling for their top-flight lives and occupy the final spot in the relegation zone as kick-off approaches. But their is a mood of optimism at St Andrews as it is expected Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is set to name a rotated side. Will Birmingham be able to secure a vital three points or will Liverpool clinch their first league win over the Blues since 2004?
