Gallas v Chelsea

Gallas: Opening goal

90+6 - Back on top: Arsenal end the weekend where they started it, on top of the Premier League.

90+6 - Late drama: Bendtner sets up Fabregas, but Cole blocks superbly. The Arsenal midfielder then goes in hard on the Chelsea defender, sparking another ugly melee. Fabregas is booked, and in the confusion the final whistle is blown.

90+4 - Late change: Adebayor is replaced by Nicklas Bendtner.

90+3 - Tipped over: After re-positioning the ball about 20 times, Shevchenko eventually drills in a vicious free-kick from the edge of the area which Almunia does well to push over the bar.

90 - Added time: There will be five additional minutes of frenetic action in North London.

89 - Late chance: Joe Cole lifts the ball into the box and Shevchenko finds himself in a yard of space, but his header is comfortably saved by Almunia.

88 - Double save: Arsenal cut through the Chelsea defence once again and Cech produces two excellent stops to deny Van Persie and Fabregas.

85 - Ruled out: Another clinical Arsenal break ends with Van Persie finding the back of the net, but the effort is ruled out for offside against Rosicky from Adebayor's earlier pass.

84 - Mikel booked: The Chelsea midfielder is cautioned for a late challenge on Flamini.

78 - Past the post: Kalou cuts inside and fires in a shot from the edge of the box, but Almunia appears to have it covered and it flies just wide.

77 - Over the top: With Chelsea pressing forward, Arsenal break at speed. Adebayor finds Hleb, who returns the ball to Van Persie but he cannot keep his shot down and it clears the bar. The Gunners then replace Hleb with Gilberto.

75 - Shocking miss: Wright-Phillips lashes wide from close range after Lampard's ball into the box is flicked on by Gallas. A miserable afternoon for the winger ends immediately as he is replaced by Salomon Kalou.

74 - Latest booking: Ben Haim joins the throng in the book after a body-check on Fabregas.

73 - Lashed wide: Van Persie is looking to make an instant impression and after forcing one save out of Cech he tries his luck from range, but is way off target.

69 - Stretchered off: The injury to Eboue looks worse than it first appeared and he is carried from the field to be replaced by Van Persie.

67 - Cole booked: Joe Cole loses the ball to Eboue and then brings down the Arsenal man as he clears. Wiley attempts to play the advantage, but books Cole after the attack breaks down.

65 - Chelsea change: Grant knows he needs to make a change and he brings off holding midfielder Claude Makelele for striker Claudio Pizarro.

60 - Lovely strike: Lampard finds Mikel on the edge of the box and the young Nigerian drills in a shot which Almunia does well to push away. Shevchenko is unable to threaten with the rebound.

59 - Flashed across: Joe Cole plays a clever ball out to the right wing where Wright-Phillips is lurking. He drills it across the six-yard box, but Shevcenko is unable to get there in time.

55 - Poor passing: Chelsea seem to have caught the Arsenal bug, with the frenetic pace affecting the distribution of both sides.

50 - Sloppy play: Arsenal have been giving away possession in their own half since the break but Chelsea, as yet, have been unable to take advantage.

47 - Terry update: The Chelsea captain is undergoing X-rays on the first metatarsal bone in his foot. Any extended absence for the defensive talisman would be a major blow to the Stamford Bridge side.

46 - Second half: Arsenal get us under way in the second period.

45+3 - Half-time: Cech's astonishing blunder has handed Arsenal the advantage after Chelsea had defended so well for the rest of the opening period.

45+2 - GOAL!! Arsenal earn a late corner and the usually reliable Cech completely misses the ball leaving Arsenal captain William Gallas to head into the empty net.

45 - Added time: Two additional minutes will be played at Emirates.

40 - Well wide: Arsenal look to take advantage as the visitors re-organise at the back, but Eboue's shot is closer to the corner flag than the goal.

38 - Terry limping: The Chelsea captain is clearly feeling the effects of the Eboue incident and has to be replaced by Tal Ben Haim. Terry limps forlornly to the sidelines.

37 - Just wide: Tomas Rosicky cuts inside and tries his luck from outside the area but the ball fizzes wide of Cech's near post.

35 - Another yellow: Eboue is booked after leaving his foot up as Terry is left in a heap on the floor after making the clearance and connecting with the bottom of the Arsenal man's boot.

33 - Beaten away: Shevchenko bursts into life and unleashes a long-range shot after good work from Lampard and Joe Cole. Almunia seems to be deceived as the ball moves in the air but manages to claw it away for a corner.

31 - Over the top: Fabregas takes the free-kick but it harmlessly goes a couple of yards over Cech's crossbar.

29 - Push and shove: John Terry slides in on Fabregas, who reacts and players from both teams enter the fray. Lampard and Terry are both booked. Tempers are getting frayed and the Gunners have a free-kick just outside the box.

27 - Off target: The England midfielder gets his effort all wrong and it flies high and wide of Almunia's goal, much to the delight of the home fans.

26 - Chelsea chance: Joe Cole goes down on the corner of the box after a challenge from Eboue and Wiley awards the free-kick in a dangerous area. Frank Lampard is over the ball.

22 - First booking: Adebayor catches Ashley Cole's right knee with his studs raised as he makes a genuine attempt to go for the ball. Referee Alan Wiley is quick to prevent a flashpoint and issues a booking to the Gunners forward.

17 - Hard but fair: Ashley Cole challenges Sagna with a forceful tackle, but wins the ball cleanly.

14 - Chelsea chance: Grant's side respond on the break, but Shaun Wright-Phillips elects to shoot with Joe Cole and Shevchenko in support. Manuel Almunia dives to make a comfortable save. The game is now being played at an impressive tempo.

13 - Lucky escape: Alex is caught in two minds by a long ball over the top and attempts to head it back to his goalkeeper, unaware that Cech has left his line. The ball clears the Blues number one, but also drifts just wide of the post.

12 - Over the top: Arsenal are now well into their stride and a typically intricate passing move ends with Adebayor curling a shot over Petr Cech's crossbar.

9 - Lampard penalised: Emmanuel Eboue gets away from Joe Cole and then goes down as Frank Lampard slides in. Replays show there was no contact, but Arsenal are awarded a free-kick on the edge of the Chelsea box, which is headed behind for a corner.

6 - Gunners break: Flamini collects the ball in his own half and bursts clear but his ambitious run is ended by Ashley Cole on the edge of the Chelsea box.

4 - Cole involved: Bacary Sagna is penalised for a foul on Ashley Cole, with the Gunners fans giving their former player a predictable reception.

3 - Cagey start: Both teams are showing each other a great deal of respect in the opening exchanges.

Kick-off: We are under way in the second part of Grand Slam Sunday.

Out of the tunnel: The two teams emerge into a cauldron of noise at Emirates Stadium.

Lone striker: Avram Grant has opted for a 4-5-1 formation with Andrei Shevchenko leading the line and hoping for support from midfield from the likes of Frank Lampard, Joe Cole and John Obi Mikel.

Fabregas fit: Arsenal are boosted by the return of their gifted midfield talisman Cesc Fabregas following his hamstring injury. Mathieu Flamini and Alexander Hleb are also back in the starting line-up, while striker Robin van Persie is named on the bench.
