Champions League AC Milan Arsenal

FULL TIME The final whistle goes and Arsenal quite rightly celebrate a famous result in Italy. The defending champions are out and their season looks to be over. As for The Gunners, they go on in Europe with a timely win that will restore confidence for the title run-in.

GOAL! History is in the making here in Milan! The Gunners double their lead with a wonderful move that sums up their emphatic display. Walcott shows great pace down the right to skip by Kaladze, going on to square the ball for Adebayor to tap in a simple second at the far post.

91 - SUB: Hleb has made way for Gilberto Silva as Arsene Wenger decides to shut up shop with a matter of a minute or two remaining.

88 - The Gunners' fans are singing loud and proud now as times ticks away for the defending champions, who now need to score twice to go through. So far on this performance, we could be here until the weekend to see them achieve that.

GOAL! Arsenal are six minutes away from becoming the first English team to beat Milan in the San Siro after Fabregas puts them ahead in fine style. The Spaniard is allowed to run forward and let go a 25-yard daisy-cutter that skims off the surface and past Kalac, nestling in just inside the left post.

83 - Pato curls a shot straight into the arms of Almunia. Milan have raised the tempo and all of a sudden Arsenal are failing to hang onto the ball.

80 - BOOKING: Kaka's annoyance at Milan's performance is shown when he slams the ball into the turf when he's not awarded the throw. All it does is give the referee another chance to get his yellow card out.

79 - Milan are unlucky not to get a corner as the referee and his assistant fail to spot Pato's left-footed curler take a deflection off Senderos' shin and spin wide of the far post.

75 - Walcott could have made a quick impact after he's found in acres of space in the area. However, his attempt to cut the ball back to Adebayor clip the shins of the onrushing Kalac, allowing Milan to escape the danger unscathed. Arsenal have certainly had the better sights of goal throughout this match so far.

73 - Clichy heads into Mr Plautz's book with a wreckless lunge that leaves Pirlo rolling around in agony near the right touchline.

71 - SUB: Theo Walcott is coming on for Arsenal in place of Eboue, who had been booked. Milan also make a change, bringing on Gilardino to try and spark their forwards into action.

68 - Arsenal are once again appealing for a penalty as Eboue tumbles under some interference from Maldini. The defender had a slight tug at his opponent who went down in installments after the minimal contact.

66 - Pato gets a rare sight of goal but snatches at his volley, sending it way over the bar to groans of disappointment from the Milan fans.

63 - Kaka shows Arsenal that Milan are still a threat, albeit a one-man show, with a mazy run that climaxes in a dragged shot that doesn't threaten Alumnia's goal.

56 - Maldini makes a meal of a challenge from Eboue to make sure the Arsenal man gets shown a yellow card. He caught the Milan veteran, but I'm not sure the third roll on the ground was really needed.

54 - Pirlo nearly makes up for his recent error by firing in a long-range free kick that forces Almunia to push the ball aside for a corner low down to his left.

51 - Pirlo makes the cardinal sin of passing across his box straight to Adebayor, who then tees up Eboue on the right. He takes a touch to steady himself but then screws his shot wide looking for power rather than going across the 'keeper. Another great chance goes begging for Arsenal.

48 - The set-piece nearly sees the deadlock broken, the ball running all the way through to Senderos who hits a shot straight into the chest of Kalac. A yard either side of the custodian and The Gunners would have been one up.

47 - It hasn't taken the Milan fans long to get the boos going again as Arsenal force an early corner.

Underway again Adebayor and Hleb get the action started again. Arsenal will be hoping they can quickly get back into their stride.

HT - 0-0 Mr Plautz, a man keen on amateur drama back in his homeland, waves wildly to announce the end of the opening half. Arsenal have done everything but score, Fabregas coming the closest when his shot clipped the crossbar.

One extra minute The board has gone up to say we're going to have 60 extra seconds, Arsenal don't want this half to end right now.

42 - Kaka barely takes a stride with the ball at his feet before Flamini is around him snapping at his heels, forcing the Brazilian into an error that allows a clean tackle to come in and clear the ball. Milan look a little shocked right now.

39 - The Arsenal fans are singing out while boos ring around the ground as the visitors keep the ball patiently. Milan have barely managed to get over the halfway line in the last 10 minutes.

34 - The woodwork has saved Milan for a second time over the two legs, this time Fabregas being denied by the cross bar after Adebayor had done brialliantly out wide to open up the chance for the midfielder.

32 - Now it's The Gunners' turn to dominate, pass after pass being spread around the field leading to what looks like a foul on Hleb by Nesta on the edge of the area. However, Austrian referee Konrad Plautz thinks the Arsenal man has made a meal of it, showing him a yellow for diving.

28 -In a rare moment of attack from Arsenal in recent times they come close to taking the lead with an Adebayor curler that Kalac has to tip over the bar to keep the game scoreless.

25 - The end-to-end nature of the game has just died down, with Milan now enjoying the majority of the play. In particular, Kaka is becoming more and more involved.

20 - Inzaghi gets a clear header from a right-wing corner but carelessly steers the ball wide of the far post. We're 20 minutes in and so far it's been a cracker - both teams going forward in numbers to make this a real open game.

19 - After a quiet start we see the sheer quality of Kaka. Picking up the ball on the halfway line he ghosts past two defenders before teeing up compatriot Pato for a weak finish straight at the goalkeeper.

15 - Inzaghi gets his first sight of goal from Maldini's left wing cross, though going away from goal his volley is too tame to trouble Almunia.

13 - Arsenal show their skills on the counter-attack, Fabregas winning the ball deep in his own half before releasing Adebayor, who holds the ball up excellently before laying it off to the onrushing Diaby. Sadly the shot doesn't match the build-up, the midfielder's effort going wide to the right.

10 - Skipper William Gallas takes a blow to the head as he clears a third corner in quick succession. The defender does well to take his time in getting up, allowing his team to take a breather.

8 - Pato lifts the home fans off their seats with a tricky run that ends with a deflected shot wide. The resulting corner sees Maldini get an early flick-on that Fabregas hoofs clear from his position on the front post. Arsenal are under pressure.

7 - Diaby works his way down the left flank before turning the ball inside to Hleb, who hammers a shot high and wide over Milan's goal. Fabregas is not impressed with his team-mate's effort after he had worked so hard to get up in support.

4 - Milan are dominating the early exchanges with the visitors trying to press them high up the field. Space has so far been at a premium.

Left wing Diaby has started out on the left for Arsenal, perhaps given the task of stopping Oddo from running forward. As expected, Adebayor is a lone runner up front.

Kick-off The hosts get us underway inside the San Siro.

Presidential matters Silvio Berlusconi is on hand in the tunnel to shake the hands of the Milan players. The atmosphere inside the ground is excellent, with plenty of Arsenal fans here to support their side.

History With a victory tonight Arsenal would become the first English side to defeat Milan on their own patch. Wenger's boys have at this stadium before, against Internazionale in the same competition.

Wal-cut Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has decided to bench Theo Walcott, replacing him with Emanuel Eboue.

Injury news Milan have Kaka available to start, though Clarence Seedorf has failed to recover from injury in time. His absence breaks his record of having played in every match of this season's competition.
