Hermann Hreidarsson Portsmouth Premier League Football Man City

Full-time: It is all over at Eastlands, with City securing a 3-1 triumph. It was a superb match, with action jam-packed throughout. Stay with skysports.com for post-match reaction and player ratings. Cheerio.

Injury-time: Three minutes of added time will be played.

87 - Top stop: Davis smashes at goal but Hart reacts expertly to palm over the bar.

84 - Pompey sub: Kranjcar is replaced by Davis.

81 - Baros chance: The January signing pulls down a pass but Hart is off his line quickly to smother.

75 - Subs: Aubey and Baros are on for Pompey, while Geovanni enters the fray for City.

74 - GOAL!!! Benjani surely seals the points for City! The striker, who has been a threat all day, latches onto Ireland's pass before turning Distin and firing past James.

72 - Almost: Benjani gets the better of the Portsmouth defence once more, and this time his effort zooms past James' left-hand post.

70 - Yellow: Lauren is booked for a very dangerous challenge. Lucky boy, on another day that might have been a red.

68 - Tetchy: A few wild challenges are beginning to emerge. The fixture is also delicately poised right now, with both sides dangerous on the counter-attack.

65 - Booking: Williamson is carded after a rash challenge on Utaka.

Gamble: Many Pompey fans are urging Mr Redknapp to throw on Baros in an attempt to grab a leveller.

61 - Poor: Vassell has all the time in the world to pick his spot, but he flashes an effort wide.

59 - Respite: James receives some treatment, allowing everyone involved to get their breath back.

56 - Woodwork: Pompey hit both posts in a matter of seconds as Muntari's effort cracks off the woodwork and falls to Utaka - whose effort hits the foot of the post and goes wide.

55 - Blazed: Benjani takes a wicked first touch before lashing over from seven yards. A poor miss after such superb play.

54 - Sub: Williamson - a youngster - comes on for the injured Dunne.

Cheeky bet: Mr Monk has been tempted to lump £2 on Portsmouth to win 4-3 @ 150/1. Stranger things have happened, Mr Monk.

50 - A case: Defoe crumples under a challenge from Dunne, but a penalty is not awarded. It would have been extremely harsh, but Defoe should really have at least appealed.

Feeling: I reckon we will see a tighter second period. While we, as observers, were thoroughly entertained by the openness of the first half, I doubt that Eriksson or Redknapp were too ecstatic.

System change: Following Hreidarsson's sending off, Muntari is now at left-back, with Defoe more isolated than before.

We're back: Portsmouth get the second period underway. james.dall@bskyb.com or the feedback button on the scorecentre to get in touch with your thoughts on the game or just how your Sunday is going.

Half-time: Phew, what a half. City lead 10-man Portsmouth 2-1. It has been a cracking fixture so far. Here is hoping for more of the same in the second period. In other news, I am off for a beverage before a teeny rest, then trawling through your emails and attaching a shiny new photo to the commentary. See you in a bit.

Rout: Jordan Russell is sure that City will run away with the encounter now. Meanwhile, Vassell bends a cheeky effort towards the top corner, but James denies him superbly. And yes Glen Jones, this is up there with one of the most frantic 45 minutes this season.

Debate: Rikesh Patel believes referee Marriner was harsh to send off Hreidarsson. On the flip-side, it was a fairly straight forward decision for the official, with Hreidarsson needlessly putting himself into an awkward situation.

40 - RED CARD! Hreidarsson is off! Vassell looks set to latch onto a through ball only to be hauled down by the Portsmouth defender. Not sure if Vassell would have got there, but either way, Hreidarsson deserved to go - he was the last man and it was a goalscoring opportunity.

38 - Dunne concern: The experienced defender has signalled to the bench after picking up a hamstring injury. More defensive woes for Sven.

35 - Fortunate: Johnson's sloppy ball puts Ball in all sorts of trouble as Defoe demonstrate his pace to intercept. The England striker lacks support, though, and the move breaks down.

33 - Saved: Benjani, who has been fantastic so far, finds himself in space once more, this time blasting low at James, who gets down well to block clear.

32 - Sven backing: Josh Russell is firmly behind Eriksson following reports that he maybe replaced at the end of the season.

30 - Benjani: The muscular centre-forward finds room between Portsmouth's centre-backs, however he opts to take the pass first-time, heading into the arms of James. He might have taken a touch and then burst in on goal.

27 - Open: Neither defence looks particularly settled, which is understandable if you are City, with both teams able to create at will. We could be in for more than the three goals we have already witnessed.

24 - GOAL!!! Pompey get one back! Bizarre game here, with Utaka making it 2-1. On first viewing, he looked offside as he flicked past Hart. But replays clearly show he was on. Game on...

21 - Rampant: City are full of vigour now, passing the ball around neatly. Benjani then uses his pace to skip past Campbell, but the England defender recovers to clear for a corner.

Early predictions: After many of you telling me Pompey will win 2-1 or 1-0, City look well placed for a victory even at this early stage. Fingers crossed none of you had some of your well-earned pound sterling on those results.

18 - Handbags: Utaka and Petrov engage in a minor shoving match. Not entirely sure what that was all about.

17 - Chance: Pompey go close to reducing the deficit, with Hreidarsson standing a cross up to the back post. Two Portsmouth players are there and Diop meets the delivery, but his header zips over the bar.

13 - GOAL!!! It is 2-0! Petrov's seemingly tame effort clips Campbell's leg, leaving James with no chance. Two goals in two minutes! Cracking entertainment.

11 - GOAL!!! City are in front! A shocking decision from James as he rushes out to clear - with Campbell looking to be in control of the situation - and loses the ball in a key area. Ireland then receives the ball, looking to finish but he drags his effort wide. Lucky for him, Vassell is there at the back post to tap home.

Elano choice: There is little going on in the fixture right now, so it is on with the chatter. Nathan Peel, a neutral, believes... hold on...

Benjani situ: Patrick has enquired about why the Zimbabwean can play today. My understanding is that he signed for City on permanent deal, unlike the complex situation with Defoe and Spurs. Meanwhile, Robby reckons Deano is in dreamland tipping Villa to pip Pompey in the table.

6 - Uncertainty: Elano's first flurry from right-back sees the Brazilian hit a looping cross into the area. James needlessly comes out to punch, almost teeing up City for an easy chance.

Contact info: It is james.dall@bskyb.com or the feedback button on the scorecentre to get in touch with yours truly.

Agenda: Deano is hoping Pompey lose today, handing Villa the impetus in the race for sixth place.

3 - Opportunity: Distin, against his old club, is presented with an excellent chance to open the scoring with a header; but his effort lacks power and drifts wide.

2 - Ambitious: Diop tries his luck from at least 30 yards, with Hart forced to fist the thunderbolt away for a corner.

Kick-off: City get the match underway. Remember it is james.dall@bskyb.com or the feedback button on the scorecentre to get in contact throughout the match.

Tom's vision: Tom Minter, a Pompey fan, has got in touch urging me to feature his prediction of a 1-0 City success, with Benjani grabbing the only goal of the game. He has assured me that this will be the outcome after dreaming of it the other night. I shall start thinking up my headline then Tom, thank you for the early heads-up.

Elano decision: The skilful Brazilian is expected to play at right-back - a perplexing choice indeed. I expect a flood of emails from City supporters on Eriksson's call. Meanwhile, Joe Loughlin is predicting a 2-1 triumph to Portsmouth. James.dall@bskyb.com or via the feedback button on the scorecentre to get in touch.

Man City team: Hart, Elano, Corluka, Dunne, Ball, Vassell, Ireland, Gelson, Johnson, Petrov, Mwaruwari. Subs: Isaksson, Geovanni, Caicedo, Castillo, Williamson.
