90 - FULL-TIME: It's all over at the Stadio Olimpico as Ronaldo and Rooney score to give United a 2-0 win over Roma in the first leg of the quarter-final tie. Roma did provide United with some scares, but United look nailed on for a semi-final spot now. Thanks to everyone who has emailed in during the game, I'm sorry I couldn't mention everyone. Enjoy the rest of your night, day, wherever you are in the world and stay with us for the rest of the big games this season.
90 - Ronaldo rocket: United break with pace as Ronaldo sends Tevez down the left. He cuts inside and chips a cross to the far post for Ronaldo and his sweetly-struck first-time shot is just over the bar.
87 - Tevez tries for Felix: After a good spell of passing from United, Tevez turns 35 yards from goal and runs with menace into the box, but his low shot is weak and even Doni can't fumble that one!
84 - Substitution: Rooney is given the last few minutes off as Tevez comes on. Felix has said that Tevez will come on to score that late third. Could he be right? And just for Brandon, there will be minute-by-minute coverage on Liverpool's game with Arsenal tomorrow night, although I'm not sure who will be keeping you up to date just yet!
83 - Could have been three: Carrick sends Ronaldo down the left with a wonderful pass and he plays a simple pass infield to Rooney, who tries to curl one beyond Doni, but he gets his shot all wrong and it is well wide. United in full control now.
Hoping for goals: Jonathan and Felix think United will get one more tonight, while Alun thinks Giuly will score before Rooney does again, but Simon in Montreal thinks Roma will get one back at the death to make the second leg uncomfortable.
77 - Substitution: Roma make their third change of the game as Aquilani, who has not offered much in a forward-thinking sense, is replaced by Esposito. Can he help to provide a goal which Roma surely need if they are to have any chance of going through to the semi-finals.
Happiness for United fans: Khosrow thinks United will go all the way, George says United are the best on the planet, Anne congratulates Chris on his prediction, but Rob in Wisconsin says United have been very lucky.
72 - Carrick chance: Rooney is revelling in his new role in the match, back as a second striker, and he sets up a chance for Carrick on the edge of the box which the midfielder strikes with a little outside swerve with the right boot and it goes just past the post.
69 - Substitution: Roma merely change full-backs as Cicinho comes on for Tonetto. United just enjoying themselves now, is there really going to be any way back into this tie for Roma, although Brandon thinks Vucinic is going to score tonight, while just a moment before Rooney's goal, Gary mailed in from the Caymans to say Rooney would score in the 87th minute for 2-0.
68 - Super save: Ronaldo nearly gets his second of the night as he lets fly with a low shot from 25 yards which is heading for the bottom corner, but Doni sticks out a glove and turns it onto the post and out for a corner.
Fergie tactics: Well, the United manager seems to be enjoying a good night as, just moments before the goal, he had moved Park to the left and Rooney more into the centre. Funny old game.
66 - GOAL! United have scored a second goal completely against the run of play and Chris, among others, is on the money with Rooney scoring. Park does superbly well to head the ball back across goal, Roma keeper Doni flaps at it and it drops kindly for Rooney just a few yards out and he pokes it into an empty net. Well, where did that come from?
Can United hang on? It's pretty much all Roma at this moment, they are ahead 8-0 on the corner count, but down on the stat that matters. 25 minutes to go, what is going to happen next? Let me know at mark.buckingham@bskyb.com
62 - What a save! United are living dangerously at the moment and need a fantastic save from Van der Sar to stay in front. Roma force another corner which is played in from the left and is flicked on at the near post by Vucinic, forcing Van der Sar into a fine reaction save.
Big hellos! Jason is following the game whilst listening to lectures - how does he manage to do two things at once? And the same can be said for Ryan who is studying for a big law test tomorrow, while Chris in the Windy City says Rooney will score to make it 2-0.
60 - He almost does: Giuly gets into a good position in space on the right of the box and rolls the ball across the face of goal, but Van der Sar smothers it before a Roma player can get a touch.
59 - Substitution: Roma make a change to give them a little more of a cutting edge and creativity as Ludovic Giuly comes on for Taddei, who has been solid, but offered little going forward. Can Giuly help to turn the tie back in Roma's favour?
55 - Substitution: United make their second change of the night with Owen Hargreaves coming on for Anderson. Probably a two-fold thing from Ferguson, firstly considering Anderson has been booked, and secondly to give United's back four a bit more protection given the way Roma have started this second half. Was it a surprise that Hargreaves did not start? Let me know at mark.buckingham@bskyb.com
54 - Yellow card: Roma centre-half Mexes is booked for a foul on Ronaldo, who plays in the free-kick from the left touchline which Carrick heads off target.
Mixed suggestions: We're getting a few predictions for the final score, with Basit expecting 3-0 with Rooney and Carrick scoring, while Easawran goes for 2-1 to Roma. Tom had a good bet on Ronaldo to score, while a shout out to Stav and Fay who are busy working and trying to follow the game!
52 - Golden chance for Roma: The Italians are having a great spell of pressure and should have equalised. A long throw from Vucinic is flicked on to the back post where Panucci is unmarked, but he side-foots the ball over the bar. Roma will be wishing it had been Panucci taking the throw and Vucinic on the end of it!
50 - Thunderous shot from Tonetto: The Roma left-back storms into the box to meet a clever pass from Vucinic and his thumping shot whistles past Van der Sar's right-hand post. The keeper didn't move and I don't think he would have saved it if it had been on target, Roma starting the second half well with a bit more purpose to their attacking.
48 - Let-off for Roma: Paul Scholes sends Ronaldo clear behind the Roma defence, but the offside flag goes up, however he was played on by Tonetto. It was a tough one for the linesman to be fair.
46 - We're back: The second half is underway with Roma kicking off in the second half. There have been no changes in personnel, but will there be a change in the score in the second half? Let me know at mark.buckingham@bskyb.com
Big concerns Paul is worried about the ref and particularly the injury to Vidic, while Gareth in Newport is threatening to eat his keyboard if Ronaldo is not the World Player of the Year. Should we hold him to that?
Interval thoughts: Regarding Ronaldo, Liverpool fan Tom says he is the best in the world and thinks he could score 45 this season, Haseeb expects him to score 40, Arsenal fan Anne wants those goals to dry up soon and Artur says he could get 50! Meanwhile, Sunderland fan Albert, from Spain, wants United to score three more! Not sure about that, but who knows?
45 - HALF-TIME: Cristiano Ronaldo's 36th goal of the season has given United the lead at the Stadio Olimpico. His powerful header, from Paul Scholes' cross, put United in front on 39 minutes and they look in a strong position. That was about United's only chance of the first half, while Van der Sar has yet to make a save at the other end. Stay with us for the second half of this evenly-contested tie.
45 - Yellow card: There is still time for Pizarro to be booked before half-time for barging into Ronaldo - thought Ronaldo made the most of that one.
45 - Yellow card: Anderson has his name taken just before half-time after bringing down Cassetti - not a serious foul but persistent infringement as he has had a few little fouls tonight. United will hope there is no repeat of last year when they had Paul Scholes sent off in this fixture.
Spot on Ryan: As Ryan in Cape Town quite rightly points out, Ronaldo can do no wrong! Viva Ronaldo, he says, he will shoot and he will score!!
42 - Vucinic goes close: Roma just have their best chance of the night as Vucinic chests the ball down well in the box and gets towards the corner of the six-yard box, but flicks the ball across goal. Roma responding well to falling behind, while Anne - an Arsenal fan in Hawaii - is happy United have scored!
Ronaldo recovers: It looks like Ronaldo is going to be okay after scoring his 36th goal this season and he is also out on his own as top scorer in the Champions League this season with seven so far. Is he going to reach 40 for the season? Email me at mark.buckingham@bskyb.com
39 - GOAL! Out of nothing United have taken the lead and guess who has scored? Rooney does well, injecting a bit of pace and plays the ball out to Scholes on the right of the box. Scholes dinked in a cross and Ronaldo built up a head of steam to meet the ball with a thumping header. There is concern, though, that Ronaldo has suffered a knock after landing heavily.
O'Shea central: It actually seems as though O'Shea is playing centre-half, with Brown staying at right-back. Maybe Ferguson doesn't want to change too much, while Shaun thinks Roma could be on to a winner with Vidic out and Ferdinand shaky.
Vidic views: With Vidic out of the rest of the match, how much will this affect United's display tonight? He was injured at a similar stage last season and missed some crucial games, and any serious injury would be a big blow.
33 - Substitution: Vidic is not able to carry on, so John O'Shea comes into the team and he will likely go to right-back with Wes Brown moving to the centre.
29 - Scare for Vidic: After winning an aerial challenge with Vucinic, United defender Vidic is receiving treatment after landing awkwardly. He is such a lynchpin in United's defence that they will hope it is not serious problem. There is a cart for the stretcher and it is not looking good for Vidic as he is trollied off.
Giggs mistake: Haroon thinks United boss Ferguson has made an error in leaving Giggs' European experience on the bench in favour of Park, who has not played much in recent weeks. Maybe he will look for Giggs to come on with 20 minutes to go to stretch the Roma defence.
21 - Ronaldo confidence: The winger, with 35 goals this season, hits a free-kick from at least 35 yards but is not close to testing Doni just to disprove Ryan's theory in Cape Town that Ronaldo can do no wrong, while the Portuguese will have to improve if he is to fulfil Haseeb's prediction that he will score a hat-trick.
A 'neutral' view: Liverpool fan Lewis is hoping Roma get even after last season's 7-1 thrashing and feels if they win 2-0 tonight that will be enough. On the evidence so far, though, it will be a surprise if there are two goals throughout the entire tie.
Park praise: Yvonne is surprised that Park has started, but feels the South Korean's energy could be what United need. He has not been on the ball much yet, although United have rarely threatened down the right as Anderson almost finds the back row at the Stadio Olimpico with a wild shot and that is some feat!
16 - Oooh Panucci: Christian Panucci, who has won the competition with two different teams, has the first chance of the night as he rises well to meet a corner from the right, but his header is just over the bar and Van der Sar breathes a sigh of relief.
14 - Cagey stuff: The game has yet to really light up - Park had a glimmer of an opening moments ago, but could not get his shot off, while Vucinic tried to play in Taddei but his pass was over-hit. Email in at mark.buckingham@bskyb.com to let me know how you think the game is going so far and how it might pan out.
Roma to do well: Abdullah in Pakistan thinks Roma can do well tonight, if they take the game to United. The opening stages suggest neither side are ready to really go for it, with quite a slow tempo at this stage.
8 - Rio wobbles again: Ferdinand looks shaky early doors, playing van der Sar into trouble there with a back-pass. Fortunately the keeper hacks it away before Vucinic gets in a block. Time for Rio to wake up - maybe he still hasn't put his clock forward!
7 - Ronaldo has a run: The first time Ronaldo gets properly on the ball, he skips past one but is quickly closed down. Some reckon he is just a flat-track bully, but is tonight a good chance to show he can be considered the best player in the world?
5 - No Nani: Phil Hoole is disappointed not to see Nani out on the pitch tonight, but with the young winger injured, will Park prove to be an adequate replacement? Phil thinks not.
2 - Interesting ploy: United have started off with Ronaldo as the main striker and Rooney on the left. Ronaldo did play in this role for a spell in the first leg of last year's quarter-final tie. Is this something that could work for United tonight?
1 - Rio wobbles: A sloppy piece of play from Ferdinand near his own box gives Roma a brief glimmer of goal as Mancini darts into the box but he gets the ball stuck under his feet a little and the danger is averted.
0 - We're off: United get the game going in Rome and are quickly on the front foot. Daniel Brook in NYC hopes Fergie just lets them attack as that's when they are best. Let's see what happens.
Closing on kick-off: There are 15 minutes to go til kick-off in Rome. How will tonight's game go? Will United try to play it safe and pinch an away goal? Or will Fergie let his attacking players loose? Email me at mark.buckingham@bskyb.com
Your say: We want to hear from you about tonight's game and what you think will happen. Should Tevez have started up front with Rooney? And is it a gamble playing Ji-sung Park instead of Ryan Giggs? And what about Roma? How will they cope without Totti? Email your views to mark.buckingham@bskyb.com and we will get some debate going.

Team news: With captain and talisman Francesco Totti injured, Roma have opted to give Mirko Vucinic the chance to lead the line. The Italians make four further changes from the team which drew 1-1 at Cagliari at the weekend as Cassetti, Panucci, De Rossi and Aquilani come in for Cicinho, Giuly, Ferrari and Brighi.
Man Utd team: Van der Sar, Brown, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Ronaldo, Anderson, Scholes, Carrick, Park, Rooney. Subs: Kuszczak, O'Shea, Silvestre, Pique, Hargreaves, Tevez, Giggs.
Team news: United have made three changes from the team which beat Aston Villa 4-0 in the Premier League at the weekend. Edwin van der Sar returns in goal in place of Tomasz Kuszczak, while Anderson replaces Carlos Tevez to leave Wayne Rooney as the lone striker. The final change sees Ji-sung Park come into the team at the expense of Ryan Giggs, who is on the bench. Michael Carrick has shaken off a knock to start after sitting out training on Monday, while Mikael Silvestre is on the bench after not playing since September.
