Ronaldo: Can Villa keep him out?

Full-time: Man Utd 4 Villa 0. United ensure that they maintain their vice-like grip on top spot after a comfortable night's work. If Sir Alex Ferguson's side play anywhere close to this in their remaining six games, then there will be no stopping them.

Two minutes of injury time to be played.

90 - Singing in the rain: The stands are beginning to empty, and all those in Old Trafford have been treated to an immaculate display by United today.

89 - Keep ball: United don't appear too concerned about grabbing a fifth and are knocking the ball around among themselves.

85 - Down to 10: Giggs appears to have picked up a knock and has gone off. With all their changes already made there is no replacement. Not that United should be concerned with just minutes left on the clock.

82 - Delayed: Rooney is offside again as he picks up a lofted pass from Giggs. His lob drops wide anyway, so the search for an elusive third goes on.

Credit where it's due: Nice to see that Chelsea fan Morgan has acknowledged that United have been different class this evening. The Blues will be eight points behind United in 10 minutes time and have their work cut out if they are to close the gap.

Sub: Villa's final change sees Bouma withdrawn in place of Osbourne.

78 - Hat-trick denied: Rooney thinks he has claimed the match ball, but the linesman has other ideas. The striker was a yard off as he buried Hargreaves cross and complain as much as he wants.

Title race over? Ryan certainly thinks so and has challenged United's competition to step up to the plate if they want to take their title.

76 - Poor: Young tries to burst past O'Shea, but only suceeds in standing on the ball and losing possession. The young winger has been given a masterclass by Ronaldo today and would do well to take note.

74 - Mix up: Mellberg and Carson almost get in a tangle, but the keeper takes command at the vital moment and hacks clear. Rooney was sniffing around for his hat-trick, so the England keeper had to act quickly.

70 - GOAL: Man Utd 4 Villa 0. No-one picks up Rooney at the far post and he makes no mistake after he is played in by Ronaldo. Villa's defence looks a shambles and United are making them pay a heavy price. Well done to Nick who predicted a 4-0 scoreline. John only needs a Carrick fifth to round off a perfect prediction from the West of Ireland.

Sub: Salifou comes on for Harewood as O'Neill seeks damage limitation.

68 - Too easy: United have Villa chasing shadows once more and Rooney sees a curling effort from the edge of the box glance off the post and slip wide.

66 - Block: Scholes prevents Barry from troubling the target as he throws himself in front of the Villa mans shot. The ball ricochets out to Young, and his low effort is deflected narrowly over the bar with Kuszczak beaten. Credit to Villa, they have never given up, but they have beaten beaten by the better side on the day.

64 - What a miss: Hargreaves swings in a cross from the right, and with the goal at his mercy, Tevez inexplicably sends hos header wide of the post. I can say with all certainty that even I would have put that away!

64 - Slice: Ronaldo plays in Tevez on the right, but the Argentine's prodded shot comes off the side of his boot and sails well wide.

63 - Weather: United's performance is all the more impressive when you consider that the rain is absolutely lashing down at Old Trafford.

Subs: Triple change by United with the job already done. Carrick, Evra and Ferdinand make way for Anderson, O'Shea and Hargreaves.

61 - Awful: Maloney has an opportunity to work Kuszczak with the resulting free-kick, but dribbles his effort into the United wall.

59 - Booking: Smart work by Petrov as he sells a clever dummy to Vidic, and the big defender is forced to hack him down.

56 - Smart save: Kuszczak looks determined to hang onto his clean sheet and has to be at his acrobatic best to turn away a swerving effort from Petrov.

Predictions: Happy United fans are expecting a rout! Nick has changed his prediction to 4-0, while Craig thinks that the Red Devils will grab five! Anything is possible the way they are playing at the moment and it would come as no surprise if the scoring is not over yet.

53 - GOAL: Man Utd 3 Villa 0. They didn't have to wait long to kill the game off. Another fantastic touch by Ronaldo sends Rooney clear on goal and this time he decides to waltz around Carson before tapping into an empty net. There is no way back now for Villa, surely?

52 - Block: Scholes dinks a cross to the back post, where the on-rushing Ronaldo sees his volley cannon off Bouma and on to the top of the bar. Desperately close to a third.

51 - Great opportunity: Maloney beats the United off-side trap and is one-on-one with Kuszczak. He bottles the chance though and drags a tame effort past the far post. Villa's best chance of the game by a mile and they should have halved the deficit.

50- Should be three: Rooney wastes a glorious chance. Clean through on goal, the England striker sends a left-foot drive skipping agonisingly past the post with Carson beaten.

49 - Harsh: Harewood displays good body strength to disposses Scholes on the edge of the box, but the referee pulls him up for a free-kick. Harewood would have been in had he been allowed to continue.

47 - Huge ask: O'Neill has never led Villa to victory against United, and judging by his demeanour on the sidelines he is not expecting that statistic to change today. The Irishman looks glum to put it mildly.

Second-half: Here we go again. Should we expect more of the same from Ferguson's men in the second-half? Remember you can get in contact at Chris.Burton@bskyb.com.

Half-time: Man Utd 2 Villa 0. A comfortable half for United and it looks unlikely that Villa will be able to claw their way back into the game during the second period. Some of the Red Devils play has been a pleasure to watch at times, and it is difficult to see who can prevent them from retaining their title in May.

45 - Wild: With confidence sky-high in the United ranks, Rooney tries an ambitious effort from fully 30-yards. His strike, though, is poor to say the least and swerves off into the upper tier of the stand.

44 - Well over: Patient build up by Villa as they move the ball in from the left. Agbonlahor finally lays the ball into the path of Young 25-yards out, but the winger hacks a woeful effort high into the stands.

Sub: Carew has taken a knock and has been forced off. Maloney comes on his place. I doubt the Scot is going to provide the same kind of aerial threat as he giant team-mate, but is pace and trickery could cause United problems.

40 - No way through: Villa continue to throw bodies forward but are unable to pick theirt way through a resolute United defence. Martin O'Neill looks disappointed at being 2-0 down, but in all fairness I doubt there is a side in the country who could live with United today.

38 - Risky: Carson will not appreciate being sold short with a dangerous backpass, and manages to get in a clearance seconds before Ronaldo dives in front of him. The last thing Villa need to do is gift chances to United with the Red Devils in the mood they are.

36 - Offside: Rooney finds himself clean through on goal, but is denied by a sprawling save from Carson. The linesman has his flagged raised anyway so it wouldn't have counted, but United are slicing through Villa with ease at present.

33 - GOAL: Man Utd 2 Aston Villa 0. Wonderful football by United. Tevez starts the move in midfield, before finishing a free flowing move with a diving header at the back post. Ronaldo's cross to find the Argentinean put the chance on a plate, and the striker could hardly miss when presented with a gaping goal. Mikey's prediction of a 4-2 win for United is on the cards, but at the moment Villa don't look like fulfilling their part of the bargain.

32 - Vital: Important backtracking from Barry as he prevents Rooney's cross reaching Tevez in the middle. He doesn't make the cleanest of contacts facing his own goal, but is happy to see the ball loop into the hands of his keeper.

29 - Still got it: Anything the boy wonder can do, so can the old timer. Giggs proves that he has a few tricks up his sleeve as he ties Reo-Coker in knots down in the corner. Unfortunately his cross lets him down and the waiting masses in the box have to trot back into position.

28 - Too heavy: Clever pass from Ronaldo releases Ronaldo in behind. The ball skids off the greasy surface though and carries into the arms of a relieved Carson.

26 - In the mood: More flicks and tricks from Ronaldo, and he looks fully prepared to put on a show for those in attendance. United are working so well as a team at the moment that Villa are unable to find a way through.

22 - Surge: Evra with a trademark burst down the left, and his dangerous centre needs to be hacked away by Mellberg with Tevez and Rooney breathing down his neck. Unfortunately for the French full-back he appears to have pulled a muscle as he starined to get in his cross and has stayed down.

19 - Close: Almost an immediate reply from Villa. Carew uses his strength to hold off a half-hearted challenge from Ferdinand, before sending a low drive skidding inches past the far post. Villa have shown enough in the opening 20 minutes to suggest that they are far from out of this game yet.

17 - GOAL: Man Utd 1 Villa 0. Genius by Ronaldo. A Giggs corner falls to the feet of the winger, and with a casual flick of his right boot he flashes a sublime effort past Carson. Nothing you can do but stand and applaud. The boy is just unplayable at times. Sean, your prediction that Ronaldo will grab a hat-trick this eveing may well be on the cards my friend!

15 - Quiet: Both sides are cancelling each other out at the monment and goalmouth action is in short supply.

11 - Good save: Ronaldo, who else, forces Carson in a fine low save down to his left. The Portuguese winger was allowed to cut inside from the right and his scuffed effort was creeping in before the England keepers intervention. United go close again from the resulting corner as Brown heads narrowly over the bar.

Predictions: Stephen and Nick are both in confident mood and feel that the Red Devils will cruise to a 3-1 win, while Joel expects Villa to snatch a point in a thrilling 2-2 draw. Keep your thoughts coming.

7 - End-to-end: Villa win another corner, but Barry's delivery is poor and Brown powers a header back up towards halfway. Both sides have been allowed to knock the ball around in midfield, and goals would definitely appear to be on the cards.

6 - Volley: Low drive from Rooney as Gigg's corner is only half-cleared to him on the edge of the box. There are too many bodies in the way though and it deflects away to safety.

4 - Corner: Villa win a couple of quickfire set-pieces and have Kuszczak flapping in the United goal. Villa have got some big men on the field, so if they can get their delivery right then they could reap the rewards.

Hareweood opportunity: Thanks to Bobby for being the first to air his opinion. He feels that the former West Ham striker deserves his chance on the big stage. We will have to wait and see, but he certainly has the pace and power to trouble the United defence.

Early exchanges: Villa look up the challenge and have spent the opening minutes in United's half. The weather is hardly going to help proceedings here, and the pitch is cutting up already.

We're all set for kick-off at the Theatre of Dreams. Can Villa throw Arsenal and Chelsea a life-line by causing an upset? It promises to be an intriguing encounter whatever happens, and don't forget to let us know your opinion on the contest throughout the game.
