FULL-TIME The whistle has blown with the final score 2-0 to England. Capello's side started slowly but improved and sealed victory thanks goals from Terry and Gerrard.
90 - Late substitution Jaqua replaces Johnson as three minutes of stoppage time are signalled.
87 - Adu thwarted by James Adu's low shot from distance is well parried by James.
86 - Good performance How satisfied do you think Capello will be with this performance? What have you made of USA?
82 - Substitution Bridge comes on for Chelsea team-mate Ashley Cole.
80 - Late push from USA USA are finally pushing forward in an attempt to salvage something from this game and James is forced to tip Lewis' dangerous cross behind for a corner.
78 - Substitutions Joe Cole comes on for his 50th international appearance in place of Rooney, while Edu replaces Clark.
76 - Caution Rooney is shown a yellow card by Greek referee Vassaras.
74 - USA survive scare Bentley's teasing cross towards Gerrard is cut out by Pearce and cleared in rather awkward fashion by Guzan.
70 - Almost a great goal Rooney links up brilliantly with Gerrard, not for the first time, but cannot provide the finishing touch.
68 - More substitutions Crouch comes on for Defoe, while Beasley and Wolff make way for Adu and Lewis for the visitors.
65 - Chasing shadows USA cannot get near the ball at the moment and unless they raise their game they could find themselves on the receiving end of a very heavy defeat
62 - England tipped to march on Mathieu from America is backing England to go on and win 3-0, with Rooney getting his name on the scoresheet.
59 - GOAL Gerrard coolly finishes past Guzan after latching onto a fine pass from Barry.
58 - Double substitution Lampard and Brown make way for Barry and Johnson.
56 - Impressive Bentley Bentley has taken up the mantle of free-kick and corner taker and his deliveries have posed problems already.
53 - Defoe denied again Defoe turns Pearce expertly and forces Guzan into a fine save.
51 - Defoe denied Defoe beats the offside trap but looks to be lacking confidence as his tame effort is easily saved by Guzan.
50 - England yet to settle England have struggled since the restart. Capello has plenty of options on the bench, however, with 18 substitutes in total.
46 - Johnson goes close Johnson lashes a volley wide from 10 yards. USA's best chance of the match and they may live to rue that miss.
Back underway USA get the second half started. They have brought on Hejduk and Guzan for Cherundolo and Howard, while Beckham has been replaced by Bentley for England.
Caribbean interest Michael Mondezie is following the game closely from Trinidad and is confident that his side will be competitive against England on Sunday. USA have struggled today, however, and Capello's men will be looking to finish the job in the second half.
HALF-TIME England lead at the interval thanks to Terry's excellent header. They are good value for their advantage and USA will be slightly disappointed they have not put more pressure on England's back-line.
43 - One-way traffic England have clicked into gear since taking the lead and will be looking for a second before the break.
42 - High and wide Defoe hits a terrible effort over the crossbar with his left foot from 25 yards.
41 - Opportunity goes begging England win a free-kick inches outside the edge of the area but Gerrard's effort crashes into the defensive wall.
38 - GOAL Beckham whips in an excellent free-kick from the right and Terry heads home powerfully to put England ahead.
34 - Great chance for England Defoe shoots wide from close range after good work by Rooney and Gerrard down the left. He should have put England ahead there.
32 - Split loyalties Katie from Washington is a 'true-blue Anglophile' and big supporter of the Premier League but she also wants USA to improve and believes a win at Wembley would do wonders for their confidence.
29 - Hotting up There is a quicker tempo to the game now and, after an encouraging start by England, USA are beginning to take charge.
26 - USA on the attack USA enjoy a good period of pressure with Brown doing well to head clear a menacing Johnson cross towards the back post. Johnson's shot from a tight angle is then well held by James.
24 - Blocked Gerrard shoots from a cleverly-worked Beckham free-kick but his effort is straight at defender Clark.
23 - Wasteful Rooney bursts down the right but his cross is behind Gerrard and the Liverpool midfielder cannot recover the situation.
19 - Ambitious Beckham tries his luck from the edge of the area but his volley flies high into the crowd.
18 - No way through USA are looking strong in defence but equally they have not yet managed to threaten Ferdinand and Terry in the England defence. Who will break the deadlock?
15 - Gerrard isolated England are starting to settle and keep the ball better but Gerrard has yet to get into the game out on the left wing.
11 - Disallowed Beckham, who scored from 70 yards on Monday, elects to cross rather than shoot from a free-kick and Gerrard taps the ball home. The referee had already blown his whistle for the set-piece to be retaken and England cannot repeat the trick.
9 - Beckham involved Beckham has been at the centre of the action early on but he is brought down by Bradley as he tries to charge down the right wing.
7 - End to end USA win a free-kick in a dangerous position but Beasley's delivery is cleared by England and Defoe sets off on a quick counter-attack that ultimately comes to nothing.
5 - More complaints Stu believes Capello should have taken the opportunity to look at Wheater and Jagielka in central defence rather than sticking with Terry and Ferdinand.
3 - Slow startNeither side has been able to find any fluency in the early stages with many of the England players looking as if they are already thinking about their summer holidays. Maybe that is why a friendly away to Trinidad & Tobago has been lined up for this weekend.
Kick-off Terry was reduced to tears after missing a penalty in the Champions League final last Wednesday but he manages to keep dry-eyed as Kelly Rowland sings the American national anthem. England then get the game underway at Wembley.
No century for Donovan Landon Donovan is injured so misses out on making his 100th appearance for USA, but Sir Bobby Charlton has presented Beckham with a special golden cap to mark the milestone he reached in the last friendly against France.
Capello criticism Abdullah Abbasi from Pakistan believes that Capello has missed a trick by not playing Gerrard behind Rooney and leaving Joe Cole on the left, although he is happy that Lampard has been recalled. Paul is angry that Capello seems to be repeating the mistakes of Steve McClaren by picking a very similar side to his predecessor?
USA Howard, Califf, Cherundolo, Pearce, Bocanegra, Dempsey, Bradley, Clark, Beasley, Johnson, Wolff. Subs: Guzan, Onyewu, Lewis, Jaqua, Adu, Edu, Hejduk.
England James, Brown, Ferdinand, Terry, Ashley Cole, Beckham, Hargreaves, Lampard, Gerrard, Defoe, Rooney. Subs: Hart, Lewis, Johnson, Bridge, Warnock, Woodgate, Bentley, Jagielka, Wheater, Huddlestone, Barry, Joe Cole, Downing, Young, Crouch, Ashton, Walcott, Agbonlahor.
England backing Man Utd fan Matt is expecting a comfortable 3-0 victory for England. He thinks defeat would show that Capello's appointment was a waste of money, but he is not convinced about the strike partnership of Rooney and Defoe, or 'short and shorter' as he has renamed them.
American support Liam in San Francisco is backing USA to win 2-1 and Bryan, who is also from the other side of the Atlantic, thinks Bradley's underrated side can shock England with their pace.
England team news Jermain Defoe has been given the nod ahead of Dean Ashton up front and will be partnered by Wayne Rooney. Steven Gerrard looks set to play on the left wing with Owen Hargreaves and Frank Lampard in the centre and David Beckham on the right. There are no surprises in defence with captain John Terry lining up alongside Rio Ferdinand and Wes Brown and Wes Brown and Ashley Cole filling the full-back spots. David James is in goal but what are your thoughts on Capello's selection? Can Defoe prove to be the ideal foil for Rooney? How will Gerrard fare out on the left? Is it fair that Gareth Barry and Joe Cole have been left out?

Welcome to skysports.com's minute-by-minute commentary of England's friendly against USA. Fabio Capello will be hoping his side can return to winning ways following the defeat to France in March but the clash with USA is a potential banana skin. Bob Bradley's men are still not regarded as a major force in world football but they have taken some notable scalps in recent months, beating Sweden and Poland in their last two games against European nations.
Put their best teams on the park and you'll see just how strong Arsenal and Chelsea are, says Andy Gray.
Paul Merson expects Man Utd and Chelsea to underline the gap between them and their neighbours.
