Full-time: City are finally put out of their misery. The home side had plenty of chances but, in truth, Chelsea never really got out of second gear and they keep the pressure on United, who visit Middlesbrough tomorrow.
93 mins - Finally Petrov gets one on target, but it's easy for Cudicini.
89 mins - Long-range effort from Petrov sails over. Many City fans have left now, although there is five minutes of stoppage time to play after Onuoha went off with what is actually a shoulder injury.
88 mins - Cherish: And if Chelsea do catch United, Julian Menz doesn't care if they deserve it or not. "James Mercer, unfortunately, is right," he said. " We might still win it, but we are not the best team in England. As much as it breaks my heart to say it, if Man U don't win, it will be a travesty. A travesty I would cherish to my dying day, of course!!"
86 mins - Firm strike by Anelka 20 yards out but it's too close to Hart. The game's petering out here as Chelsea ease to another win, which will put them within two points of United.
85 mins - Low centre by Joe Cole is turned behind by Dunne, and Paolo Ferreira comes on for Belletti before Sun Jihai clears the corner.
83 mins - Good work by Benjani wins another corner on the right. Little surprise to see Chelsea again comfortably clear.
81 mins - Reply: Chelsea fan Jake Somani has something to say to Ali Akram: "We are the most efficient team in the country, with the most away wins, and we've just chalked up another today. These so-called Man U fans cannot comment about being a one-man team - where would they be without Ronaldo the ballerina?"
80 mins - Blocked: Benjani does well to get away a shot on the edge of the Chelsea box, and Terry turns it wide. Another poor corner from City, though, and it's easily dealt with.
78 mins - Hope: City still fighting and they earn a corner on the left, although it's headed clear at the near post.
76 mins - Puzzler for you from Chirag Desai: "So Mourinho was sacked because his style of play was boring and he couldn't accomodate Shevchenko and Mr Grant would play more open and exciting game.. Raise your hand who thinks Chelsea are more adventurous under Mr Grant?.. I dont see anyone!"
75 mins - Last roll of the dice for City as Caicedo replaces Ireland. The home side now have three strikers on.
74 mins - Bored: Chelsea may be efficient but Andy Myers doesn't like what he sees. "I've been a Chelsea fan for 40 years and have never been so bored and frustrated by them."
72 mins - Free-kick for City but again Petrov curls it off-target. City look a beaten side now.
70 mins - Support for Brian Freed from Steve Edwards, who says, "if Chelsea win the title it would prove how good a league English football has. Utd and Arsenal may play the better football but the fact that Chelsea can get result after result shows what a winning side we have."
68 mins - Stunned: That second goal for Chelsea has knocked the stuffing out of City. It was a tough blow for the home side, who have now lost their shape and, it seems, their belief.
67 mins - Too long: Anelka's left-wing cross is too long for Lampard, who comes charging into the box at the far post.
66 mins - Another change by Sven-Goran Eriksson, with the City boss hoping to revive the home side's attack by bringing on Darius Vassell for Elano.
64 mins - Professional performance from Chelsea which perhaps typifies their season, and there's fighting talk from Brian Freed. "If Chelsea pip Man Utd to the title - they will deserve it for the turmoil that the club has gone through this season, what with Mourinho leaving and the number of injuries the team has had," he says.
63 mins - Counter-attack from Chelsea as Essien's effort is blocked following Anelka's pull-back.
61 mins - Corner for City on the left, and Corluka's header is deflected wide.
59 mins - Substitution for City as Onuoha is stretchered off, with Sun Jihai coming into the fray.
56 mins - Lengthy treatment for Onuoha after he appeared to go over on his ankle following a challenge with Essien.
55 mins - Great double save by Hart to keep City in it. Anelka has a free header from Lampard's right-wing cross, Hart manages to tip the ball onto the underside of the crossbar and the England Under-21 keeper then gets up to claw the ball off the line with Anelka lunging in.
53 mins - Clean through: Chelsea almost seal it as Lampard's through-ball puts Anelka clean through, but Hart does well to prevent the Chelsea striker going round him.
52 mins - GOAL!!! City may have been on top but Chelsea show their class to double the lead. Kalou twice exchanges passes with Essien outside the City box to slice through the home defence then take it round Hart to tap into an empty net.
50 mins - Snuffed out: Lampard slips in Anelka behind the City defence but he's snuffed out by the home side.
48 mins - Positive start to the second period by City, and it will be no surprise to Ali Akram to hear that Joe Cole has come on for Wright-Phillips.
47 mins - Fun: And Pete Cowgill takes the opportunity to poke fun at the Blues, saying, "if Chelsea dont win this, the title is staying in Manchester, and Fergie will send the kids to the Bridge!!"
46 mins - Poor: "The match sums up Chelsea's season, the team is basically relying on opponents mistakes than its own quality," says Ali Akram, before adding, "Chelsea without Joe cole is like a MAN WITHOUT LUNGS!!! Thus are a one-man show."
Second half: City get us restarted, with more criticism flooding in for Chelsea.
Travesty: James Mercer rightly notes that Chelsea lead despite not having a shot on target - their goal was directed goalwards by Dunne, of course. "Chelsea have been largely outplayed by a mediocre City side and it would be an absolute travesty if they were to lift the title given how dull and unadventurous they have been to watch this season," he adds. Stern words from James, do you agree?
Half-time: That's the end of the opening period and City really do deserve to be level after dominating the last half-hour.
45 mins - Pessimism from Chelsea fan Julian Menz, who asks after the good fortune of Dunne's own goal, "does this mean City will cream us in the second half and win 2-1?". Julian also wonders why Drogba isn't even on the bench - "Has he taken a wrong turn off the M6?"
44 mins - First booking for Gelson Fernandes for a late challenge on Shaun Wright-Phillips.
42 mins - On top: It took 15 minutes for City to wake up but they're playing some great stuff now and deserve to be level heading into the break.
40 mins - Sorely missed: Petrov's contribution so far shows just how much City were missing him during his recent three-match ban.
39 mins - Free-kick for City 25 yards out on the right side, Petrov hits a curling effort over the wall but it was always heading off target.
36 mins - Blocked: Surprise as Petrov plays in the free-kick with his right foot, Ireland side-foots goalwards from a tight angle at the back post and Cudicini is down low to his left to make the save.
35 mins - Pressure: City keep the pressure on with Johnson leading a good move down the left before Corluka wins a free-kick just outside the right side of the box.
33 mins - Off the line by Ashley Cole after another City chance. Johnson plays a one-two with Ireland to get into the box and although his centre is directed over Cudicini by Alex, Cole comes across to hack the ball clear.
32 mins - Blazed over by Kalou after finding some space to unleash a 20-yard strike.
31 mins - Great save by Cudicini, who tips over a superb 25-yard strike by Petrov after City played a short corner on the right.
30 mins - Good block by John Terry after Benjani bursts down the right and pulls it back for Ireland, who is snuffed out by three Chelsea defenders and City win a corner.
27 mins - Two-horse race? Arsenal lost further ground in the title race earlier so is it now between United and Chelsea? United fan Ali Akram in Pakistan believes it would be unjust for Chelsea to pip the Reds. "A team no-one has talkd abt at all cannot win the title!" he says.
25 mins - Slip by Gelson gifts Lampard a shooting opportunity from 20 yards but the England star drags his effort wide.
24 mins - Confidence from Chelsea fan Matthew Griffin, who predicted a 3-0 win for the title-chasers with Anelka getting a goal. Looking good so far, although you can't have that opener.. it was definitely Dunne's that!!
23 mins - Quick break by Chelsea sees Lampard playing in Anelka, but again Onuoha is close enough to make the block and concede a corner.
21 mins - Bright start by Chelsea saw City fall behind early but the hosts have regrouped and are now on top.
20 mins - Test for Cudicini as Elano lays it off for Gelson to send a 25-yard strike straight at the Chelsea keeper.
18 mins - Good possession by City as they work it wide for Petrov, who crosses from the left, although Benjani sends a free header hopelessly wide from 14 yards.
16 mins - Well wide: Petrov comes inside and picks the ball up 40 yards out before lashing a 25-yard effort well wide.
14 mins - First chance for City after Belletti headed out Elano's searching right-wing cross. It falls for Johnson on the edge of the box but the City midfielder lashes it high and wide with his left foot.
12 mins - Good recovery by Nedum Onuoha to concede a corner after Essien's perfectly-weighted through-ball releases Anelka.
11 mins - Space for Petrov on the City left after being picked out by Johnson, although the Bulgarian winger's cross is too long.
9 mins - No support for City's lone striker Benjani, who finally picks the ball up on the left but he's unable to find a team-mate.
7 mins - No response from City, who put little pressure on Chelsea as the visitors continue to play it around with ease.
6 mins - GOAL!!! Chelsea are rewarded for a bright start as City skipper Richard Dunne turns the ball into his own net. Kalou finds Essien in space 25 yards out and Essien nudges it wide for Anelka. The Chelsea striker squares the ball back to Essien and Dunne can only poke the ball past Joe Hart from seven yards with Essien lurking.
4 mins - Old pals act: Anelka and Wright-Phillips played in the last City side to beat Chelsea back in October 2004.
3 mins - Loose pass by Michael Ball gifts possession to Juliano Belletti 25 yards out but Anelka's right-wing cross is too long.
1 min - First corner for Chelsea after a long ball down the right for Shaun Wright-Phillips, who was given a warm reception by the City faithful on his return to Eastlands.
Kick-off: Chelsea get things under way in glorious sunshine at the Coty of Manchester Stadium. Indeed the weather's almost as bright as Chelsea's away strip!
Six changes by Chelsea boss Avram Grant following the Champions League defeat at Fenerbahce in midweek, with Ricardo Carvalho, Michael Ballack, Joe Cole, Claude Makelele, Florent Malouda and Didier Drogba all left out. Former City stars Nicolas Anelka and Shaun-Wright Phillips come in, along with John Mikel Obi, Alex, Salomon Kalou and Juliano Belletti.
Fitness boost: Sven-Goran Eriksson has made four changes following last week's disappointing 3-1 defeat at relegation-threatened Birmingham. Vedran Corluka, Michael Ball, Michael Johnson and Martin Petrov are all fit again and come in for Sun Jihai, Javier Garrido, Didi Hamann and Darius Vassell.
Chelsea: Cudicini; Belletti, Alex, Terry, Ashley Cole; Essien, Obi, Lampard, Wright-Phillips; Anelka, Kalou. Subs: Hilario, Shevchenko, Joe Cole, Ballack, Ferreira.
Man City: Hart; Corluka, Dunne, Onuoha, Ball; Ireland, Gelson, Johnson, Petrov, Elano; Mwaruwari. Subs: Isaksson, Vassell, Jihai, Caicedo, Hamann.
