FT: Arsenal 3 Everton 1

Full TimeFull-time. 3-1 to the Gunners. The scoreline is a little harsh on Everton, who were excellent for around 60 minutes. The Gunners really stepped it up in the second half, inspired by Walcott's pace. Thank you so much for all your comments. Cheerio ladies and gentlemen.

Goal90 GOAL WALCOTT Arsenal strike again! Diaby cuts back for Walcott and the youngster smashes home. Game over.

Yellow Card86 Osman is carded for a late challenge on Denilson. The Toffees are struggling to gain possession at present. They may be best off lumping it forward as the clock ticks down.

84 Plenty of singing from the home fans in the sunshine, but a lot could still unfold. Fabregas has had one of his worse games, while Rodwell has really shone for Everton.

82 Nasri has picked up what looks like a thigh injury and is replaced by Diaby, who makes his first appearance of the season.

Substitution79 Yakubu and Everton are replaced by Neville and Vaughan.

76 Nasri has a pop but the shot lacks power and Howard gathers easily. Arsenal look comfortable at the moment, but one would expect a tesne final 10 as the Toffees push forward.

Substitution74 Saha is on for Fellaini, who had an impressive game in midfield. He was physically immense, an won some key headers.

71 Saha looks set to come on for the Toffees as Moyes looks for a way back into the game.

70 GOAL VAN PERSIE Arsenal go in front! It is Van Persie with the goal. Adebayor dallies on a chance to shoot but opts to pass to Fabregas. He fires at goal and Howard makes a top save but Van Persie is there to head home the rebound.

67 It is all Arsenal at the moment. They are enjoying a lot of possession but Everton have steadid the ship for the moment.

Substitution64 Extremely committed contest now. Piennar is booked for a trip on Eboue as Arsenal probe for their second.

61 Walcott has gone down in a heap. A fizzed corner struck him strongly in the face, and has knocked him for six. He should be okay though.

Yellow Card59 Hibbert is booked for a strong and robust challenge on Denilson. There was calls for a red from the Arsenal faithful, but the ref deemed it a yellow. Clichy was also booked for protesting.

57 All sorts of claims going on. First, Adebayor appears to foul Jagielka when surging through, but nothing is given. Then Van Persie appears to be hauled down by Baines in the box, but nothing is given.

56 Walcott is proving a real menace at the moment. While he has yet to do anything of real note, his running is pushing Everton right back.

54 Really impressive passing from Arsenal. Eboue drags a skimming cross at Van Persie, but the Dutchman is leaning back and skies well over. A chance gone by.

51 Fellaini dinks a header back to Osman who tries an acrobatic effort. It lacks zip though and Almunia claims easily.

50 Hibbert makes a key interception as Fabregas looks to slip in Van Persie. The home fans are singing their hearts out now.

48 GOAL NASRI Arsenal level! Nasri is on target with a low, powerful strike from the edge of the area. Game on.

46 Almunia rushes out to the feet of Yakubu to knock away. The Nigerian was about to dispatch and make it 2-0. Huge let off for Arsenal.

Arsenal get the second period under way.

Walcott is coming on for the injured Toure. Looks as if Song will move to centre-back and Eboue will push back into defence.

Evin feels Wenger should bring on Walcott for Song, shifting Eboue to right-back. Taht certainly seems a logical move. Dennis, though, is delighted with how Everton are performing and is full of praise for the defence after the less than convincing start to the campaign.

Half TimeHalf-time. Everton good, Arsenal bad. That is the best and clearest summary I can give you really. The Toffees have been tough committed opposition, and have looked dangerous when going forward. Jagielka has been a monster at the back. Arsenal have been far, far from their best. Song is certainly not a right-back and has given them nothing compared to Clichy on the other side. James.dall@bskyb.com or the feedback button on the scorecentre to get in touch.

Two minutes of injury-time will be played.

44 Nasri slips a pass to Fabregas who drives a low angled shot-cum-cross into the six-yard box. No one is there for Arsenal, and Everton happily see it out.

42 Congested, tight, narrow - take your pick. Arsenal's attacks are mainly torrid.

40 Fabregas hits a dipping and zipping effort but his strike drops the wrong side of Howard's right-hand post.

37 Fellaini has a really decent opportunity to power his way to a one v one, but his first touch lets him down. Lescott then meets a corner and Clichy clears off the line. All sorts of drama!

35 Toure again drops a deep ball behind the centre-backs looking for Adebayor, but he is again well marshalled by Jagielka.

Yellow Card33 Adebayor is booked for diving. The big forward rather than into his marker simply trying to buy a penalty. The ref was bang on there.

31 Van Persie rifles in the resultant free-kick, whipping in an effort with venom, but Howard palms away well.

Yellow Card30 Lescott is booked. Very harsh indeed. He tussled with Van Persie. There was little in it.

29 It is more than apparent that Arsenal are lumping it long. Adebayor is an eager runner and has almost got in on a number of occassions.

28 Piennar skips away from Denilson far too easily and passes into the box. Almunia comes out low to claim. The Gunners then attack and Van Persie has a decent opportunity to hit the target, but he gets it all wrong and the strike zooms well over.

26 Nasri cuts back for Clichy, who hangs a cross into the area. Adebayor meets it but his header is poor and the effort drifts harmlessly over the bar.

24 Lescott makes a terrific block. Nasri is seconds away from pounding home, but the England defender jumps in to toe the ball away. Everton's defending has been dogged and disciplined so far.

22 Adebayor latches onto Fabregas' dinked through ball, but he is flagged offside. Meanwhile, Toure does not all too happy following that knock.

20 Toure is down injured holding his shoulder after he collided with Jagielka, who made a brilliantly committed defensive header from a corner.

18 Almost 2-0 Everton. Osman is in great space around 20 yards from goal and hits low towards the corner. Silvestre hangs out a leg and the ball is deflected off the defender just wide.

16 Van Persie makes a great run off the back of the defence, and kills the ball with his chest. He winds up to shoot and fires at goal only to be denied by an excellent stop from Howard, who gathers at the second attempt.

13 There is a huge sense of uneasiness from the home fans at present. Arsenal have not started well at all. The Toffees, however, have been impressive.

11 Arsenal have woken up and are beginning to play with tempo. Fabregas winds up from the edge of the area but he gets under the ball and his strike floats over.

Goal9 GOAL OSMAN First blood to the Toffees. Pienaar is slid in down the left and he rolls a teasing ball along the six-yard box. Osman is charging in and connects with a sliding effort to slot past Almunia from close range

8 Toure pumps a long ball forward. Everton deal with it a tad unconvincingly, with Van Persie lurking, but Howard is off his line to claim.

7 Denilson puts Silvestre in a spot of bother with a short pass but the Frenchman powers into a challenge to win a free-kick.

5 Adebayor surges down the right-hand channel but top tracking back from Pienaar sees the Togo international lose the ball. It's a rather flat atmosphere at The Emirates so far.

3 A promising Everton attack breaks down as the cross is overhit. The Gunners counter with excellent pace but Eboue's sloppy pass is mopped up by the visitors' defence.

2 Everton are in possession at present as they attempt to work an opening down the left. Osman is down for a few seconds with a knock but soon picks himself up.

1 It is Song at right-back for Arsenal. Eboue is in right midfield and Denilson partners Cesc in the centre. Yakubu faces a long day up top on his own. His team-mates much support him during attacks.

Kick-off - Everton get the game underway.

The teams march onto the pitch. Peter Walton is today's referee.

Joe White is sitting on the fence as he drops me a line to predict a 2-2 stalemate. 10 minutes until kick-off - just enough time for you to get a brew and settle down in front of your PC or laptop as we embark on another Saturday of footballing frolics. We shall converse again at kick-off.

Liam Butley says it will be a 'tough' game for Arsenal. Craig Whitefoot feels while Everton 'have something to prove' they will fall to a 3-1 defeat. Kevin Dye, though, is of the belief that the Toffees will scrape it 2-1.

So former United defender Silvestre makes his belated debut as the Gunners seek to rectify their aerial woe. England's Walcott is rested, while it looks as if Denilson will operate at right midfield. Everton are without Cahill (a big loss) but will look to the deftness of Arteta from set-pieces. Teenager Jack Rodwell starts, and the Yak operates a lone striking role.

We shall touch on the team news (below) shortly. In the mean time, Craig Webb has a feeling in his fingers that the visitors will edge the match 2-1. Harry Ingleby, though, is backing a 2-1 home triumph. Mr Ingleby goes even further with his prediction in stating that it will be 1-1 at half-time. He sounds like a gentleman that may have a few pounds sterling on that outcome?

Everton team: Howard, Hibbert, Jagielka, Lescott, Baines, Arteta, Osman, Rodwell, Fellaini, Pienaar, Yakubu. Subs: Nash, Saha, Vaughan, Neville, Nuno Valente, Gosling, Wallace.

Arsenal team: Almunia, Eboue, Toure, Silvestre, Clichy, Denilson, Fabregas, Song, Nasri, Van Persie, Adebayor. Subs: Fabianski, Diaby, Vela, Walcott, Ramsey, Gibbs, Hoyte.

So it is Gunners v Toffees, Red v Blue, etc. Arsene Wenger's side have endured an unsettling beginning to the new season. Losses to Fulham and Hull City coupled with a late draw at Sunderland have sent the media spinning with negativities. Their defence appears to remain their main weakness, while it can be said with much certainty that they miss Monsieur Flamini. David Moyes, meanwhile, has just penned a shiny new deal, ending the mutterings over his future. Form-wise, their start has been ropey, to say the least. They have leaked goals (hurting my Fantasy Football team and sparking me to oust Tim Howard), and have won just one of their previous five league outings. So, prediction time then.
