Cousin gives Hull some hope
90 + 3 ALL OVER! United hang on for the three points. But Hull will earn the praise. The Tigers have proved they have everything require to compete in the Premier League after running the champions close in a 4-3 defeat at Old Trafford.
90 ADDED TIME: There will be three minutes added time.
89 Long balls are the order of the day for Hull. United have again paid the price for switching off in the final 20 minutes.
88 Despite their best efforts, Hull have yet to have another sight on goal. The match is being played in midfield.
88 United look to run down the clock as an annoyed Anderson trudges off to be replaced by John O'Shea.
87 Hull add some aeriel threat as Caleb Folan comes on for Boateng.
86 Tevez catches the bug as he hacks down Boateng and goes in the book.
85 Rooney lets out his frustrations with a flying challenge on George Boateng. What a game this is. This could either way now and United are rattled.
82 GOAL!!! HULL SCORE! (4-3) Game on as Geovanni slots in to the left hand corner. Van der Sar went the right way, but could not get a hand to the ball.
80 HULL PENALTY! Rio Ferdinand is adjudged to have hauled down Mendy!
77 Rooney's frustrating afternoon continues as a combination of Tuner and Myhill stop the England star at the near post. Rooney is a man on a mission at the moment.
75 Rooney almost lets out his frustration with a goal as he hits a half volley, but Myhill saves well.
73 The goal has brought Hull to life. But is it too little too late? Rooney is frustrated to give away a foul against Cousin.
70 Turner, who was booked in the first half is lucky to escape a red card as he brings down Carrick on the edge of the area. Anderson blasts the free-kick over and United replace Carrick with Giggs in the break.
69 GOAL!!! HULL HAVE A SECOND! (4-2) Evra heads back to Van der Sar, but Mendy intercepts and lobs the advancing United goalkeeper to score an excellent goal, despite the best efforts of Vidic who only just misses out on scooping the ball out before it crosses the line.
68 Tevez is a bright spark as he tries his luck from 25 yards, but the forwards effort is well wide.
67 United appear to have taken their foot off the gas a little. That has been a characteristic of Ferguson's side in recent weeks. They are likely to be saving themselves for the midweek European game against Celtic. Expect more substitutions soon.
65 It has all gone a bit scrappy in the midfield at the moment and the ball eventually goes out of play as Marney - who has had a difficult afternoon - attempts an ambitious pass to Mendy and the ball goes out of play. Hull will have learnt the value of possession today.
62 King has run himself into the ground and makes way for Peter Halmosi. United bring on Tevez, who is in contract discussions, for Nani. It will be interesting to see how the Argentine combines with Ronaldo and Berbatov.
61 Hull win their first corner of the afternoon. Turner gets his head to Dawson's delivery but Van der Sar comfortably collects.
60 Hull are all over the place. Two games in a week against the European Cup finalists is taking its toll. The Tigers cannot be blamed, any team would suffer. Brown's side are, however, looking ragged and a fifth is likely.
58 Hull bring on Bernard Mendy for a tired-looking Hughes.
57 GOAL!!! UNITED DO GET THEIR FOURTH! (4-1). From the resulting corner, Rooney delivers and Vidic steers in at the near post.
57 United's fourth does not look far away as Zayatte does well to tackle back, but the home side has a corner.
56 United break four-on-four against Hull, but Ronaldo's pass to Berbatov is intercepted by Turner.
55 Ronaldo almost has his hat-trick as Berbatov squares, but the Portugal international fires just wide. Ronaldo's next goal will be his 100th in a United shirt.
53 Hull have done well in the opening phase of the second half. It would be easy for them to crumble, but Brown appears to have had a few words at half-time and the Tigers are standing up to the Premier League and UEFA Champions League title holders.
51 Hull have a free-kick 25 yards from goal at the Stretford End. However, the ball appears to clip Berbatov in the wall and United escape without conceding a corner.
50 Berbatov wins possession from a throw in and is inches away from adding United's fourth as he drags just wide of the far post.
48 Half-time emails seem to feel Ronaldo is set for a hat-trick. Hull will do well to stop the winger taking the match ball home. Don't forget, it is peter.fraser@bskyb.com if you want to get in touch
47 WE'RE BACK! Hull get the second half going. Can the Tigers find a way back?
As the teams emerge for the second half, the betting odds have changed. United are now 1/200, a draw is 50/1 and Hull are 100/1.
45 + 2 HALF-TIME! United are in command as Ronaldo nets twice and Carrick also gets his name on the scoresheet. Hull responded through Cousin, but the visitors have been overawed. Can Hull find a away back or will this get embarrassing for the Premier League new boys?
43 GOAL!!! UNITED HAVE THEIR THIRD! (3-1) Ronaldo keeps up his rich run of form as he meets a Nani corner - taken long this time - to head past Myhill. The last touch looks to have come off Paul McShane but it will not be an own goal.
41 Hull fail to clear their lines from a Ronaldo cross and, after Nani does well at the back post, Rooney should have done better with a free header from six yards. The former Everton striker is a little off the pace today. But he can be excused after a run of nine goals in nine games for club and country.
40 Rooney has the ball in the back of the net after running on to a Berbatov flick to out-pace Zayatte, but the England man is adjudged offside. Debatable.
38 United are taking the majority of their corners short and to feet. Ferguson obviously recognises Hull's power and aerial strength.
36 Hull cannot get out of their half as United win a corner. Brown's side are creaking and are desperate for the half-time whistle as Nani blasts over from another short set play.
34 Neville gets in on the counter-attacking act as he bombs forward from right-back and almost links up with Rooney in the penalty area. United have come back to life after a sloppy phase and Hull are on the ropes.
33 Rooney almost threads Ronaldo through, but there is just a little too much on the pass and the Portuguese cannot get his foot to the ball as Myhill is quickly off his line.
32 United break again and Ronaldo pulls the trigger. Boaz Myhill gets a hand to the ball to snuff out the danger. Rooney is not pleased as he was free at the far post. The home side are in excellent counter-attacking form.
29 GOAL!!! UNITED ARE BACK IN FRONT! (2-1) United break at speed and Berbatov feeds Carrick. The England midfielder duly drags his shot from the edge of the box across goal and sees the ball hit the back of the net via the far post. Trademark United.
27 Vidic gave away the free-kick from which United conceded in cheap fashion. He has not learnt his lesson as he again has his hands all over King, but Dean is not interested.
25 United have the chance to respond with their own free-kick, but Carrick's delivery is poor and Hull clear their lines.
23 GOAL!!! HULL SCORE! (1-1) Andy Dawson delivers the free-kick into the box and Daniel Cousin - green boats and all - heads in. A glanced connection left Edwin van der Sar wrong footed. What a shock for United! Can Hull produce another upset?
21 Hull are their own worst enemies at the moment. They look edgy when in control of the ball. But King has won a free-kick wide on the right and can deliver into the box.
20 We have the first booking of the match as Michael Turner clobbers Nani. It could be a long 70 minutes for the Hull defender. Anyone mention a booking tightrope?
19 Hull need to do better when in possession. The Tigers were building a nice attack, but Dean Marney opts to pass to Michael Carrick.
17 Rooney is again at the centre of attention. He skips past Zayatte - who is struggling - and fires at goal with his left foot from 20 yards. Unfortunately for United, the ball flies over the bar.
15 Rooney, who resembles Richard O'Brien of Crystal Maze fame, with his new hair 'style' wins a corner, but United play it short and Hull clear.
13 King looks expectantly towards referee Dean following a bit of a tussle with United skipper Neville in the home 18-yard area. Six of one, half a dozen of the other and Dean is not interested.
12 Hull have a chance to break, but Geovanni spots the invisible man making a break down the right and pumps the ball out of play. A let down and Geovanni has not started particularly well.
10 Berbatov is enjoying himself. He slips past Kamil Zayatte as if he was not there. The Bulgarian striker has settled well at Old Trafford.
8 A positive sign for Hull is that Marlon King appears to have far too much power for Nemanja Vidic. This is a rarity for Vidic, but King is causing problems with his strength.
6 Things are looking ominous for Hull as Ronaldo hits a free-kick into the danger area and Berbatov almost connects. United have immediately slipped into gear and it could be a long afternoon for their visitors.
5 Hull have the opportunity to respond immediately, but Geovanni smashes high and wide from a free-kick 20 yards out.
3 GOAL!!! UNITED SCORE! (1-0) Gary Neville lofts the ball down the line and Ronaldo knocks the ball down to Berbatov. The Bulgarian returns the ball to his team-mate who drives in low with his left foot from the edge of the area.
3 Hull are struggling to get a touch as United dominate the ball in the early stages. Could be a sign of things to come.
1 Robert Attewell is asking where Wes Brown is. The defender has an ankle injury. United are enjoying a good piece of early possession.
KICK-OFF! United get the game going to a sharp blast on referee Mike Dean's whistle . Old Trafford is expectant and Ferguson will be looking to Berbatov, Rooney and Ronaldo for inspiration.
As the teams emerge from the tunnel, Brian Holt a 'die hard' Hull fan reckons his men will come out on top in a 7-6 victory. Drinking at this time of the afternoon Brian, shame on you. Steph Carroll is maybe a bit more realistic, predicting a 2-1 win for Hull.
Finally we have some backing for Hull. Daniel Nguyen in Australia has given me a nudge to say that Geovanni is key for an away win. I will not mention why Daniel wants Hull to win, it would only ruffle feathers. But I suspect he is Down Under with a bit of a Scouse twang in his accent.
Liam Wilton reckons United will cruise to a 4-0 win with Berbatov, Ronaldo and Rooney all on the scoresheet. Not much support out there for the Tigers...?
Nigel Cunniffe from New Jersey has been in touch to predict a 3-1 win for United, but he is wary of a late surge from Hull. In other news, Nigel, Sugar Maple Lane sounds like something from Willy Wonka!
If you fancy a flutter... With 20 minutes to go until kick-off, Sky Bet have United available at 2/11, a draw is at 11/2, while Hull are outsiders at 14/1. Cristiano Ronaldo is the favourite to open the scoring at threes.
